They heat to 210 degrees which is less damaging than 230, not everyone needs to go as high as 230. Wide plates are hard to come by, especially at this price.

If you are looking for cheap, effective, WIDE PLATE straighteners then get Genie. If you just need a regular narrow plate then there are lots of alternatives.

I used to swear by GHDs until I tried these and now i hate GHDs! they aren't as good!

Received my thick genie straighteners today (amazing super fast next day delivery). :T

I am quite amazed about how good these are and now regret that I have spent so much money in the past on ghd's and other's,

My hair was basically poker straight in less than 2 minutes lol (I have super fine hair but lots of it).

So glad I purchased them !

p.s It also took no where near 3 minutes to heat up - I think I waited a minute max and were certainly hot enough!!!

Mine arrived today as well - really impressed with the fast delivery.

What a bargain! My GHDs cost £115 a few years ago, these cost less than 10% of that, really chuffed!

Finally took the plunge after reading the good feedback here. My current ones are great but I fancied getting wide plates as my hair is so thick and pretty long, so I'll see how I get on at the lower temp. Thanks OP and everyone else for posting
