Hi
Its a long story so I wont bother you with the gory details but essentially my ex is brainwashed by her evil mother who abuses everyone but I stood upto not realising her power over her daughter.
Anyway she has not replied to me since ending our 8yr relationshop via text message at 3am while I was hundred of miles away - very classy - I had to go through her brother to get any information about my cats or my things after she handed the house back to landlord and moved back in with her parents - they sent me two boxes of my things which is pretty much junk and broken stuff.
They initially said they would have my cats driven down to me if needed but now are saying they wont return them to me and I have not had a reply to several mail in a week - all I am asking for is to know about the rest of my possessions, not big things like furniture but small things that can and should have been sent down initally.
I bought pretty much everything and have all the receipts to prove that.
Id rather not involve a solicitor and not sure exactly what they could do - I have tried appealing to her to do this right and amicably but I get nothing.
I just want my cats and a few things - she has everything else including a new mortage free house to look forward to - I have a few boxes of tat but she seems to want to twist the knife in and clear me out completely!
Any advice much appreciated!

Can't you just go and get your belongings?Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0
-
Nope, long story but I dont drive and they are other end of country - and all the possessions are at her parents - they wont even reply to me when I ask what they intend to do with my stuff!0
-
Would her brother help by meeting you somewhere with the cats?
You may have to write off your other belongings - it's hard and unjust but often easier in the long run.0 -
They seem unwilling to do anything to be honest, getting any form of decent reply is like extracting blood from stone
I was trying to suggest that I could drive and pick them up when I pass my test (I passed in another country) but they wont respond to anything!0 -
And the worst part is the cats are now in a house full of working dogs seperated by some temporary arrangement upstairs.
I havent been seperated from my cats for more than 4hours and its now over 3 weeks, and they wont even let me know if they are ok. Ive had some horrible dreams about them
And as for the stuff I work from home and I took a couple of computers down with me when I came down to see my family but they havent returned any of my other equipment etc that they could have done instead of tat they sent in the two boxes.
I dont get why she/they wont acknowledge the rest of the stuff - why not just send another box or two down ? its like they are trying to steal it - but theres stuff that is literally mine, things from my office/desk etc!0 -
I guess a professional help will do you greatly. You can go to authorities and explain to them what happened. Your belongings are your belongings and if you want them back, you can always have them back (since you've stated that you have proof that the items are yours, the better). Your cats have papers as well right? Better to bring them along or ask an expert on what to do with your cats. I do have a cat as well. Love him to the fullest and can't sleep at night if he hasn't come home.
I wish you all the luck bro!0 -
Thanks Dude
I think professional help seems the only way at the moment.
Cats don't have papers as such but I have emails stating they would have the cats returned to me when she first did this so perhaps that could help too.
Know what you mean re the cats, its hard enough waking up alone after this long but the cats woke us up with the tom cat kneading my face every morning0 -
Essentially this is theft.
I suggest that you offer them the choice of returning your goods (and you may have to get a train and book a storage place temporarily) or facing legal action.
Go and talk to the police as they may be prepared to speak to them (give them the choice of retunring the stuff or being arrested for theft). It levered goods out of a landlady who unlawfully evicted her tenant and held is good in ransom. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

It's also been suggested on here before that if you tell the police you are worried about your security when you go to reclaim your pets and goods that they will arrange to have someone on hand.0 -
Thanks for the advice Ras & Mojisola. Ive tried contacting her again so I will wait and see if anything happens yet I doubt it.
Failing that I think I will contact the authorities like you suggest.
Its such a shame she's doing this - she's acknowledged so many times that noones helped her more than me, through uni and launching career when her family gave her no support and mother criticised her every turn and can't believe she can be so spiteful! She was so sweet! lol0
