Thank you Ladies. It horrible. DS2 just wants a friend but not a weird one or one that acts babyish. He couldn't cope in mainstream school and moved to a special school in July 2012. I am going to talk to his teacher tomorrow. We have become isolated as a family so I need to have a think about that too.

Bonnie I think you have been given some good advice already. I think your health has to come first.

Good luck Skinty x MiL behaving vibes on their way to you.

    Thank you everyone :A

It's a charity shop. Part of a nationwide chain.

I've been looking for paid part-time work (after redundancy and ill-health after a car accident) since August 2011 and this is the only paid work I've been offered  despite loads of experience, academic qualifications and secretarial/administrative qualifications (this is what I do/did). I've had interviews but never been the number one. I never thought it would be so hard for 'someone like me' to find work!! I still claim some element of job seekers allowance as I only work 7 hours per week and I will have to explain to them why I resigned (and quite right that I should have to explain). Luckily, my job centre advisor is well aware of what I've been experiencing over the months so I hope I won't be penalised for resigning, which technically I could be.

I'm worried about references - or lack of them - or bad ones!! I've seen first hand the comments my immediate boss has written on a reference application for a former volunteer who left because of she could no longer stand the boss's bad attitude. In fact for all I know it could be a bad reference from a former employer that is holding me back now - I once reported the bullying of a director - she made my life a misery when I refused to (a) leave my then primary school aged children alone before the childminder could collect them, so I could get into work earlier and outside of my contracted hours, to suit her (eh?) and (b) talk on my mobile phone whilst driving (no hands free) to keep her updated of my comings and goings.

It's a mess but I think I will cut my losses and run. My health and sanity ARE more important. I will ask for a reference to take with me when I leave so it can't be withheld or changed at a later date when I involve EH.

    :(

Made lasagne for today's and tomorrow's dins and some Birsay biscuits when we got in, and that's me zonked out for the day, I fear.

Maybe, then, once you have resigned a complain to the charity itself, or maybe even the Charities commission, about the failure to deal with this issue? If you are going to resign tipping of the local press (anonymously) might work.

What about scouts or woodcraft folk or Boy's Brigade (whatever is available in your area) for DS?

    Bonnie,

I think you need to get out of there, one way or another. What a horrible place!

All quiet here above stairs, and I've had a bit of a tidy round and got clothes ready for morning.

Have a bit more to do downstairs, in kitchen especially, but LR as well. WFH tomorrow so no need for driving. Will walk tots round to nursery, so have wellies, hats etc at the ready.

When I'm done down here, I'm going to take a brew upstairs, and a hot water bottle, and do a bit more stitching. I've missed a row out I think, but its too complicated to unpick, so I shall have to work around it somehow.

Dancemum, so sorry your DS is having a hard time. My DS is a lot younger, and although generally ok with friends, he is a very insecure little lad, since his dad died. He used to be so confident and outgoing, but these days he seems afraid of anyone looking at him. Thankfully he was already in nursery before all this happened so he sees that as a safe place, and isn't really shy there. I hope he manages to find a good pal soon. Are there any family resources you can contact? They can sometimes put you in contact with a family in similar circumstances, which might help you all? X

  • Bonnie ((((big hugs)))) For what it is worth, I think you have made the right decision. Your health must come first. And I hope you get the reference you want as well.

Dinner eaten, DW is bleeping now. I need to empty the TD.

Primary school is closed tomorrow. I am needed by one parent to have her 8yo tomorrow while she attempts to get to work. I know that will cost her, but it is much needed pennies for me :o This is a lovely parent that told me that i needed to increase my charges (I had told her that DH wasn't working)!!

See you all on the new thread :)
  • Hi there on this chilly Sunday. Been a busy flylady today, as after usual round of breakfast for all (us, cats, birds in garden), we tidied through, S and S bathroom and kitchen, then had a MH (mad hour!) and sorted drawers in the two bedrooms and bathroom, and have a two huge bags of stuff for the animal charity we support.

BUt - and I'm sure one of you fly ladies will have one - please put up a flag as my OH has SORTED SOME OF HIS THINGS TO GIVE AWAY!! This is very unusual, he hangs on to outdated, worn out, too big, too small stuff forever, so I am very pleased, to say the least. (I once put a paint-covered, creased, much too small tee-shirt in the 'rag bag' once, and he retrieved it!)

Anyway, eve meal just about ready, so good wishes all round, epecially to Bonnie and Dancemum's DS. Leave now Bonnie, and tell the Job Centre why. This company should not be allowed to get away with this: what a disgrace those managers are. Can you claim wrongful dismissal if you are forced to leave??

Final words, big hugs and spoons and everything for Skintbreeder - I do hope all goes well and the very best of luck and good vibes for the next few days. R x

I've looked at reporting EH issues online and, when googled, my employer comes up as a source of help. I could cry. Also I don't appear to be able to report anonymously... unless I give a false name and email address??? Why is it so difficult to do the right thing??
