And my DH just called to tell me he has had his redundancy letter in
, (he drives freight trains) there was talk of this every year since he started there but now its come true.... He has an interview on Thursday...
So if you don't mind ladies, positive interview vibes for Thursday for my DH ... I shall tell him the power of the flyladies will be in the room with him:A
My DH has a job interview on Thursday too, also on the railway (but he doesn't drive trains). I'll certainly be thinking of your DH, macpep - please do the same for mine!0 -

Hi there, you need to go to Edit, then Go Advanced and you'll see the strike out sign there (an S with a - through it). Hope that helps!!
Thanks, got in a patty pickle until I worked out what to do with the strike boxes :rotfl:
Good luck to the hubbies with their job interviews!"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
afternoon everyone
We have just had a snow flurry of great big fat flakes the size of 5p pieces.
DS is in his element and desperately wants to go outside. But he is sooooo sweet natured he is worried about the wildlife "Poor birds, their trees get all cold now it's snowing.....open the doors Mummy and let all the birds get warm in our house!"
hmmm, after checking my main email account this morning to find an email from my energy supplier with the new compulsory 12 months forecast of future expenditure for gas and electricity as £2,500 for 12 months :mad::mad: our belts will be coming in even tighter, so no little birdies will be invited in to our house to warm up, however noble DS intentions are
unable to sleep due to throbbing back and shock of how much energy we are ploughing through or more to the point the cost (I used to work for one of the big 6 in a former life, but bought my energy through the cheapest competitor. I used to do regular meter reads for them in exchange for Nectar points, but then Nectar took its clout to one of the other big 6 instead, so as no incentive for me to keep going out there in the cold, scribbling away and then sending it off online)
As money for new things is going to be non existent (not that I had any money to burn before:p) I unsubscribed from loads of sites, got my inbox down from 3000 unread messages to a big fat ZERO, set loads of inbox rules to sort important messages on arrival - at that was after a major overhaul when I joined flylady when I had umpteen thousand emails in that inbox.
flying wise, I have unloaded top tray of DW, got EX MIL to do the bottom tray - v@xed the LR carpet in short bursts (just have to finish behind the settee) wiped half of the upper kitchen cupboards Head to Hips only, took DS to hairdressers to tidy his hair up - went into Room of Doom, the study to find DD3 has been eating in there so removed offending items, but haven't got so far as cleaning it yet.
The evidence of EX MIL giving DS chocolate on arrival yesterday has been made all too apparent on the freshly laundered throws on the settee, so they are now going in on a boil wash with the night time pants that were soaking overnight last night - EX MIL is doing that....DS is showered and in disposable night time pants now just in case, as he is sitting next to me in my bed :eek::eek:
Right enough venting, time for a :coffee: a deep breathe and insist DS settles down for a nap - any joiners for a brew? The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Right, here goes
Monday Study and/or Living room
Level One
[strike]Clear the floor and hoover or mop
HH Paperwork or decluttering [/strike]
Level Two
[strike]Clean the radiators, behind, inside, defluff them[/strike] - don't have any!
[strike]Dust any pictures[/strike] - this was a bit
Level Three
[strike]Do a 5 minute job that's been on your list for ages [/strike] - cleaned the doggy nose prints off the living room window
[strike]S&S the toilets and sinks[/strike]
[strike]Get everybody in your house to help you for at least 5 minutes each[/strike] - Mr Minx cooks every night and does all the DIY, I think he contributes enough really
Extras
[strike]HHExercise[/strike] - does mucking out two horses, twice, and walking the dog count?
Start creating a folder with all financial information in (tip from Valli photocopy front and back of cards etc for an easy reference)
[strike]Clean all the screen pcs, phones, tvs etc especially touch ones[/strike]
Tuesday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Level One
[strike]Wipe the table and work surfaces[/strike]
[strike]Sweep/Hoover/[/strike]mop the floor - dining room hoovered, kitchen hoovered but still needs mopping. Mr Minx was due to arrive home imminently, so I've left it for tomorrow.
Level Two
[strike]Wipe on top of high up cupboards if safe to do so[/strike] - not doing this, I need a step ladder and I've no idea where it is at the moment. It's in one of Mr Minx's sheds, so it could be some time before it resurfaces....
[strike]Clean the window ledge[/strike]
Level Three
[strike]Catch up on any handwashing/sponge marks off furnishings[/strike] - no handwash stuff in my wardrobe and sponging won't have much impact on the state of the loose covers!!
[strike]Sort out/defrost your freezer, what can you use up this week[/strike] - this is Mr Minx's domain.
[strike]HHI[/strike]
Extras
[strike]Sort out your baking trays/pans, ditch rusty ones. [/strike] - again, this is Mr Minx's domain, messing with his cookware would only lead to domestic strife
[strike]Dust any surfaces which need it[/strike]
[strike]Go sort a hot spot - if you don't have one you deserve HHme time[/strike] - kitchen windowsill is dustable for the first time in about a year0 -
Good afternoon, ladies. Been out and helped set up a knitting group - how exciting :j:j:j Then stopped with a friend and had coffee  Inspired to start preparing our meal, and now need to crack on with a HHSomething
Join me if you can.

We have lots of goldfinches - collective noun "charm" I love thatSo if you don't mind ladies, positive interview vibes for Thursday for my DH, he is quite a shy person & may struggle a bit but I am going to psyche him up the night before & bombard him with questions, I shall tell him the power of the flyladies will be in the room with him:A
Good luck to both Mr Macpep and Mr Ionanfan :T:T:T:T:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, Narc0lepsy. Live your dream if you can.
Thanks for that, and for your interesting life story. There seem to be a few teaching flyladies around - are we naturally poor housekeepers, short of time or just spend so long organising our students that we haven't got the energy to organise ourselves?
I still like the teaching and the assessment side (I do Special Needs), but I have less and less patience for the paperwork, regulations, funding cuts and general dross that seems to take up all my time. Hence the thought of freelance. But we'll see.
I'm going to spend some time doing an soa and see how OH and I have been living/spending in this last year, and see what I actually need/want. It would be nice to be able to take advantage of any last minute cheap holidays etc without being tied to the expensive time of year. Although I appreciate I am so much luckier than those who never get holidays.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

They certainly will. All the best at such a difficult time. I was made redundant 12 years ago and it isn't nice at all, whether you are expecting it or not. Mine turned out well as I changed career; I hope your DH manages to find something.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
