Will try and find a pic
twas a bit pricey at £400 but that was with toughened glass but for the quality I think it really was a bargain.

DD That's a lovely greenhouse I must say I don't regret getting mine put in my small garden I love it. Just got my final shelving sorted out probably have too much staging now but the new stuff folds flat against the sides but its a of a fiddle to do it.

My friend just build a cold frame from a mini pallet she covered it in plastic for her seedlings. She said she found it at work its ones of those that stack and looks like beehives side. I must admit I am not sure what she is flaking about.

MBE i envy your spud bed it looks super. I Really want to get some more potatoes in the ground I have more bags so might just stick them in there instead. Last year they got blights in the ground so although I got more than from the bags we actually ended up with too many so might just do the bags.

My thyme and parsley was taking forever to grow from seed so got to pots from Tesco at £1.29 each. Stuck them in the greenhouse so harden off but might split them before I plant out. I love cooking with parsley and dild so need to check when dild can go in.

Was so so wet here yesterday I didn't get outside at all. Fingers crossed for today.

Love the greenhouse. Going to catch up on the thread and dream of what I can plant out. No windowsills due to kids and cats and no greenhouse. Definitely looking into a coldframe.
I love my south facing garden but have to plant a month after everyone else as we are high up and it stays cold longer. 5 min away down the hill a chamelia same as mine has finished flowering just as mine is coming into bud, noticed this with loads of other stuff as well.

Furball - I got my coldframe (link above somewhere) from a chap in Halifax if you want the details?

Didn't realise you were so close to me!

Hoping son or son in law will make me one. Keep dropping hints but I think it will be a case of I start it and they finish it. We are almost neighbours :)

    we are! I'm in Tod....
  • Well 10.30 till 3.30 at the plot for me.

Managed to get onion sets in and some carrots sewn.

The rest of the time was devoted to weeding and it STILL isnt all done.

Think I have one bed with ground elder in it and a piece of bare land at the back with couch grass.....at least I think thats what it is.....long white tubours travelling quite a way under ground.

Back was killing me so will have to dig these bits up another time and burn what I find.

I know from previous experience that it could take longer than expected. Hey Ho.

I've sown my watermelon seeds :D

Pkt says 2 weeks germination time so should be right for planting out end May/June.
No idea what the germination rate is so I've sown 3 to a pot and will thin to 1.

The packet lied, they were up this morning and 100% germination.
Could be interesting growing them, they're 3" tall now  still with the seed case on them. It had better warm up soon this year.

Well I'm dusting my shorts off in anticipation Annie so it had better be warm :D

I've had to stay at my parents this week as my Dad's been poorly and only ventured out the greenhouse today but its looking great :j

trying homeguard again but in the ground this time around.
arran victories and a few others...

Not that warm! but it was nice to see the sun, even if I did need a windbreak this morning.
I've grown homeguard and arran victory and got poor crops, hope you do better than I did. Hope your dads feeling better.

My poor back is still sore, had to stop at 4pm as standing up was getting painful from bending over.

Parsnips rescued. I've sown fresh seed and as I can't find my staple gun I've put chicken wire over them held down with tent pegs.

My spuds in buckets planted last month are just showing green tips :D and the raspberries are springing up everywhere along with the weeds. Pulled the first 2 stalks from the rhubarb, must be 10+ there still.
I seem to have a big problem with hairy bittercress this year. No idea why but it's everywhere.

Dug out the large shrub, well it was till I hard pruned it and bagged up. That's off to DS garden tomorrow along with 3' x 2' of daffs. Decided to clear part of it early and plant more spuds there instead.
Just in case spring April was warm and sunny his year :rotfl: I sowed 1 round courgette seed last month, it has flower buds forming on it. It's still in a 3" pot, that'll be going out soon, cloched and fleeced.

I was busy this weekend. Planted lettuce (first batch, diaried dates to plant 2nd and 3rd batches). Planted over 20 tomato seeds (more in a couple of weeks). Planted a fair number of carrots, beetroot. Got about 12 cucumber seeds in I think. Set up my ginger in a decent sized pot - will be keeping my fingers crossed for that one, as it is an experiment!

Greenhouse covers still haven't arrived, so I've commandeered most windowsills in the house & am incurring a lot of wrath!

Next weekend I'll be planting flowers for hanging baskets (& encouraging bees) & setting out my little polytunnel in the garden.

I also fixed the slug traps that someone had trodden on. Was nice to be outside. Next weekend is possibly going to be 17/18 degrees, & I'll be getting those greenhouses up!

Only thing I didn't get planted (which I will do next weekend) is the onions.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Ive had a good day in the garden today, planted my potatoes at last, soil here in Devon is horrible clay, so I had to wait for it to dry out a bit. I still managed to grow in height :).Also move my strawberries to their new home, which left me a bit more of a veg patch.
My other half has taken all the wire fencing down that was covered in brambles and ivy, not ours but neighbour put up a new wooden fence and left the bad stuff in our garden.Hard work but so worth it, my garden that side looks so much better.
We have also been collecting snails by the score, little blighters
