When hubby and I had finished laughing at my attempts to make parsnip cones, I made lunch and he made the cones :D but you knew he would end up doing it didn't you John? ;)
Was OK for the first 12" it was the 2nd one that was the killer, and even hubby had had enough after 12 in our clay soil. So 12 it is, sieved soil in and 3 seeds in each sown.

Planted all the 1st earlies in the ground or buckets, mowed the lawn, cut back hard the 15 year old hypericum and decided that it's just too big now for my little garden so that's going to go to DS garden as he has loads of space for big shrubs, empted one of the recycling bins as it has split and filled with assorted prunings as I can't be asked to get the shredder down from the loft. I now have an excess number of strawberries that will also end up at my sons too.
Played around with pot combinations for crops and couldn't bring myself to uproot the poached egg plants that have taken over my carrot tub.
My back then said stop, so I did. Tonight will be indoor sowing and potting on, but only after a relaxing bath and some volterol.

I did go fetch compost, but haven,t actually planted anything!:o

Saturday we finally got our bowls season under way! Never before have I known a match called off for snow. This year, 2 weeks running! Was a lovely warm day in the sun bowling, and the wind has dropped. It was nice to be playing again.

Today I went to homebase, got compost, paint, wallpaper. Then I had to wash the car. Managed to turn my compost and weed around where the lily is. I've sorted out my starter pots.

I'll clear windowsills and plant seeds this week. I still have to order new greenhouse covers (tomorows job) and frosts are still forecast, so can't have everything out uncovred.

I impulse bought a ginger, as a means of trying something new, so if anyone has any tips for growing gingers, i'd be grateful,:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I managed to get a fair bit done on Sunday - raising another bed until I ran out of screws. Got all the bits cut to finish today though. Will try and get the spuds in today, and some roots sown.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

The bed's finished, and I've thrown in a trailer load of compost, as that's where my spuds are going this year. I want to mix it in with the mantis but it doesn't want to start today.

I only used it on Friday and it was ok then. :(

Someone gave me this plastic half-barrel to grow spuds in the greenhouse for Christmas. I thought I'd put it to good use in the meantime, so I've sown some carrots in it:

I paid a visit to a community garden near my workplace today and am massively inspired to plant stuff now. I really need to sort out some kind of greenhouse or poly-tunnel thingy for a v small garden. Any ideas?

Well, how much space have you got? Greenhouses range from about 6'x4' to whatever size you like. Or failing that, you could look at a blowaway.

remember 2011 when my blowaway blew away in the great tomato suicide?

I'm going to have to measure up.

Looks quite clear now the ice has finally gone. Yes, I've fished the leaves out, and bought a net.

The Mantis finally started, so I'm ready to plant spuds. Thursday, I reckon, as I've got another day off work. :)
