Husband an Expat overseas

You are unbelievable in your attitude. Clearly earning well, just returned or about to do so, and already enquiring about how much benefits you can claim! There are many hard working professional couples who pay large sums of taxes and just accept it rather then looking for ways to claim benefits...0

He isn't here to register a claim, so any claim she makes is as a single parent. As to the claim by one poster that it is plausible her husband is earning £1,000,000 pa that's laughable, how many people do any of us know who do earn that amount?
The bile that gets thrown up when someone is entitled to benefits and the bashers disagree is just awful, it's absolutely not about the good of the country, it's because if they aren't entitled they can't see why anyone, in any situation should be ever. Jealous, ugly, bitter excuses for human beings.Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.

And they are claiming benefits? The fact remains that the OP is not earning and under the law her husbands income does not count, legally she is doing nothing wrong. She did not come on here stating that he was earning millions and that she intended to exploit a loophole, she asked what counted as household income, a lot has been inferred from that question and she has been hung without trial. Might I remind you that maintenance is not counted for benefits purposesLove many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.

The op can make a claim as a single person, but the husbands income still has to be declared as 'foreign income' when claiming for tax credits even if its not taxable in the UK because its still income that will benefit the household, along with any investments, savings or pensions.
EDIT: 'Other income' not 'foreign income'0 -

You signature seems to pour scorn on what you call 'judgemental people' but you never seem to have a problem judging other people.0 -

Thanks to those who have provided helpful comments in response to my original post. I am better informed as a result and appreciate them.
To those who chose to attack and waste their time on this, I hope that their lives can be filled with more interesting things in the future.
We chose to move overseas when a former government deemed it fair to charge an income tax rate of 50%. We disagreed and instead of moaning about it, we did something about it and moved to Saudi and Dubai. As far as I understand it is not a crime to move overseas and return from time to time.
Enjoy 2013!0 -

If you mean do I judge nasty, viscous bigots, then yes I do. Do i judge those in need, those with less than i, or those asking a question who don't give their life history then no I don't.Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.
