Urgent help . Victim of scam

If you have his name and and bank account details there are things you can do that could potentially annoy him. Quite easy to set up online direct debits to charities these days, not that I would advocate anything illegal of course0

Cancelling a Direct Debit and getting a refund is a trivial task. I wouldn't be surprised if the bank charged the charity for doing this, thus creating another victim.
It's unlikely the scammer would have used their own bank account anyway. It's probably just one they have access to.0 -
Typical Scam.
bargain half price item with an instant profit to be made, leads to increased risk taking.
You must have had that feeling somewhere that this was too good to be true.Be happy...;)0 -

Probably the victim of a "job opportunity" like this one https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4324727
The money will have been received by the account owner and then likely transferred overseas via Western Union.0 -

Sorry, do you mean to say you transferred the money this morning and you are expecting, some eight hours later, to have the telephone in your possession tonight?0 -

I think that some people get used to the fact that most transactions in the UK are protected in some way. i.e. that there are rules on selling, rules on banking, rules on making mis-selling.
It does take away the natural cynicism that people would otherwise have. These scams probably only really work in countries like the UK where people are more 'protected'.0 -
(not that I think that there should be less rules and regulations of course, that would be worse)0

Yeah, all those people who get mugged for being naive and stupid enough to walk around outside at night - they deserve everything they get too...
The guy asked a perfectly reasonable question and half of the replies on here were either unhelpful, condescending or simply insulting. Maybe he did make a mistake but I very much doubt that you'd give a reply like that to someone to whom you were speaking in person.0
