    Lets try again,
The flight from Moscow to Paris was Aeroflot? Or KLM?
The flight from Paris to ? was FlyBMI?
    Hi,
All booked through KLM but yes Aeroflot from Moscow to Paris and Flybmi from Paris to Southampton.
All the flights went on time just minus my brother and nephew.
KLM have admitted in an email to my brother it was there fault the booking was completely cancelled due to an apparent IT fault, but more like it was overbooked.

Bookings aren't cancelled due to overbooking.

Probably no compensation due as non EU airline departing non EU airport.
I'm thinking you could either sue KLM for breach of contract or claim Section 75 if paid on credit card.

  • Advice welcome please.

It’s 4 weeks since I put my claim in at KLM and still waiting for a response.

I booked an open jaw ticket:

    LHR-AMS-JRO

    DAR-AMS-LCY

The AMS-LCY flight was due to land at 9am Saturday July 7th and I had plans that day.

These were ruined because the AMS-LCY flight was cancelled to to “cockpit crew issues”.

    I was transferred as follows:

    KLM AMS-HAJ
    BA HAJ-LHR.

I arrived at LHR about 2 pm, waited an hour for baggage which did not arrive.

Finally got to home and my plans by 16:30 about 5.5 hours late.

I booked to go into LCY because it’s nearer my home. I should have been home by around 10am but having gone into LHR this out much more delay.

I guess my main question is, in terms of compensation for this will it be classed as AMS-LCY that’s cancelled and therefore the compensation will be the lowest bracket...

Also, my baggage arrived two days late and I had late fees for my kit hire for Kilimanjaro.

I also endured higher cost travelling from Heathrow instead of London City.

Does flight compensation cover the standard costs plus the extra receipts you hand in or is that part of the compensation?

I mean no amount of money is going to cover the disappointment of missing the event I was going to...

You are due compensation at the higher rate -the full journey distance.
Expenses claim are part of the same regulation but seperate. Air line are responsible for getting you to your original destination so your journey Heathrow to City is there cost.
Have you used resolver? KLM don't reply at all to resolver.

Just to add to JPears's advice above, KLM is not obligated to cover this so you may as well leave it out of your claim. Travel insurance may help.

I submitted a claim for three passengers in November 2012 for delayed flight from Sao Paulo to Heathrow via Amsterdam. The flight out of Sao Paulo to Amsterdam was delayed causing us to miss our connecting flight to Heathrow. We were then rebooked on a flight from Amsterdam to Heathrow arriving at Heathrow more than four hours late.

I had a reply from KLM saying that the flight out of Sao Paulo was delayed due to a delay in the incoming flight from Amsterdam because of smell of oil inside the aircraft and they had to change the aircraft. My claim was refused by KLM. I then went to Civil Aviation Authority and they said that as Amsterdam was the first point of entry to the EU I would need to have my claim reviewed by the Netherlands National Enforcement Body. So I wrote to them who replied that as the claim was now older than one year after the incident the Inspectorate would not process my complaint. At this point because of personal reasons I left it. But now I am wondering if I have any claim. I just seem to have been passed around.

  • Hi, new poster. I had a 10 hour odd delay flying Air France to CDG (and obvious knock on delay to BHX) in early June. I put in a claim via a claims company and last week got an update from them saying AF had rejected my claim. I sent them boarding passes for both flights, texts and emails from AF detailing the delay and even a legal looking document from AF (sent before id even got to the airport) admitting the delay and that it was due to 'technical issues', so can't understand how they could reject it? I emailed the claim company for AF's reasons but no reply as yet. My claim status says 'preparing legal action' or similar.
