Flight was with virgin vs28. Date was 17/7/15. Wasn!!!8217;t given reason for delay. Delayed leaving mco when in turn missed connecting flight from lgw to dub. Transferred to Lhr to get the aer lingus flight 233 (from what I remember). But virgin saying that I!!!8217;m not entitled to claim. Have no more info expect 7 travellers 2 adults 5 children.0

Are you resident in Eire? If so, it will be a nightmare to claim through the Irish courts which is probably what is required. Unless you have a friendly address in UK you can use for the small claims court here.
Virgin will know Irish courts are tricky and expensive which is probably why they are fobbing you off.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

No we live in Northern Ireland. We flew Dublin as that was the most suitable connection times as advised by virgin. We could have went to either Belfast or Dublin as both airports same distance away from us.0

Presumably you have UK style small claims type court in NI as in rest of UK?\
This maybe your route of choice now.

Hi Ladies and Gents,
Thanks in advance for your help on this.
I'll try and be to the point.
We recently booked a package holiday with Virgin Holidays to Oranldo to enjoy the theme parks. The package included flights, hotel and park tickets.
We had a great time all in all, up until the flight home... We had a connecting flight in atlanta, so the trip was going to be Orlando-Atlanta-Heathrow.
Upon arriving at the airport in Orlando we were told that the Orlando to Atlanta flight had been delayed due to technical reasons and that we would miss our Atlanta flight to Heathrow. The soonest they could get us to Heathrow was 24hrs later.... Outrageous!!
Anyway they flew us to Atlanta, we arrived late. The staff were very rude but they did put us up in some grotty hotel for the evening. It's been allot of wasted time, no offence to Atlanta but the airport district isn't exactly appealing.
An important point to mention here is that Virgin had actually put us on flights operated by Delta.
Anyway, we contacted virgin. They immediate reaction was just to point the finger of blame and liability at Delta saying to contact them for compensation....It seems like a very convient excuse for Virgin. Ultimately we paid them for the holiday, the buck must stop with them surely??
3 of the party I have flown with are self employed and the extra day is costing us all lots of lost income.. Not ideal.
Is the EU directive on flight compensation applicable in this scenario? Or are Virgin except as the flight was operated by Delta and it was the internal flight that was delayed?
Much Thanks

No. Your delayed flight was operated by a non-EU carrier and departing from/arriving at a non-EU airport so EU regulations don't apply.0 -
Like what he said.
Today's air travel life lesson. Check who you are actually flying with each leg. It might influence your flight choices. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
