Thank you Mark2spark you are great.
Did you read my 1st post with regard to the email I got from them. To me this looks like a standard email from Monarch and it always seems to be to do with engines!!!
I take it then the next step is to do a NBA (now I know what it means, lol) is there a template in FAQ.
I know your all very busy and I appreciate all your help xx0 -
Monarch have come up with a variety of excuses, oil leaks, pilots calling in sick, etc etc. It's all rubbish. It's hard to think of a circumstance that actually qualifies for a payment using their reasoning :undecided
I think there are 3 template letters in the FAQ's. One is called Centipede template:

The others are CAA template and the 3rd is the Which! template.0 -
Flight ZB558 Manchester to Bodrum on 01st October 2012
Claim rejected due to extraordinary circumstances.
Due to depart 14.55, departed late due to windscreen heater problem, which was rectified. A short while into flight we were told we had to turn round and return to Manchester as fault was not properly resolved. Landed back at Manchester around 18.30, finally departed in the early hours of following day on replacement plane. Total delay approx 10 hours.0 -
Seems the extraordinary circumstance emails are coming in thick and fast.
I have finally had a reply this evening after nearly 4 months about flight ZB248 from Gatwick to Sharm 14th October, our flight was delayed by 7 hours.
This was a knock on effect from a flight the previous day having a fault meaning the crew exceeded their legal flying hours. They even said they minimized our delay by arranging another crew rather than waiting for the original crew to return.
They knew about the problem the day before, they had plenty of time to arrange another crew so how they can call it an 'extraordinary circumstance' is beyond belief.0 -

I've added this to the OP, I'm assuming it was last year, 2012?
Interesting that Monarch fly both ZB and MON flights into Sharm.
14 day NBA giving them another chance and court for you then kecat?0 -

What is the scheduled journey time to Bodrum?
Just that if you had gone past the half way point, the decision to turn around - a longer journey than continuing to destination - would have been a commercial decision by the airline as the tech fault is cheaper to fix in Manchester (or elsewhere in the UK), so not an EC. Just a greed more profit/less cost type of decision. Nothing to do with safety.
But if you'd only been in the air 20 mins then it's an arguable in flight safety issue, and one for the CAA I suspect.0 -
Flight ZB677 Alicante to Manchester 29/10/12
Our records show that the aircraft scheduled to operate your flight developed a fault with the left hand side translating sleeve in the right hand side engine, less than an hour prior to the scheduled departure time of the outbound flight from Manchester to Alicante. The aircraft was declared unserviceable and the required replacement component was moved from the Monarch base in Luton to Manchester for fitting. Unfortunately this led to a delay in the scheduled departure time of your flight later that day. As a consequence and in order to reduce the length of your delay, your flight was operated on the first available aircraft from within the Monarch fleet.
Extraordinary circumstances no compensation!!!
What should I do next??0 -
I guess you are all getting bored hearing about Monarch's "extraordinary circumstances" excuses.
Well, I've just received a rejection with a difference!
As usual, it starts:Re: Flight ZB492 Birmingham to Alicante on 18th September 2012So far it's the standard Monarch excuse, except... that wasn't my flight! They got me mixed up with someone else!
... Our records show that this flight was scheduled to be operated on an Aurela aircraft which we had sub-chartered for the summer season. Unfortunately, the aircraft developed a problem on its Inertial Reference Unit and Electronic Altitude Direction Indicators. [Their capitalisation - presumably to make it sound more scientific.] In view of the length of time that rectification would take and to avoid any further delay, your flight was transferred to the first available aircraft from within the Monarch fleet. Rectification work of the Aurela aircraft was undertaken and the aircraft was deemed serviceable at 2330 hours GMT.
Having considered the factual background of this case, we are satisfied that the disruption was caused by an extraordinary circumstance that could not have reasonably been prevented by Monarch Airlines. We are, therefore, unable to accept your claim for compensation for the reasons given.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can provide any further assistance or information.
Yours sincerely,

Presumably they gave details of my flight to the person who took flight ZB492. Has anyone got a letter about my flight ZB743 Malaga to Gatwick scheduled for 2 August 2012?0
