Yes!

1) Read page one FAQ's
2) Check around that time on flightstats after registering (free) on there
3) Maybe contact OTB to see if they are able to assist
4) Possibly post on https://www.facebook.com/MonarchComplaints to see if others on same flight

Very good chance it was a Monarch flight, certain gentleman (Vauban) got delayed on this route I believe :)

There are a number of UK airlines servicing this route - it is a fairly elementary first step to know who you flew with. I'd contact On The Beach and see if they've retained details of your booking, as a first step.
• Just an update for anyone that may be getting weary (my polite way of putting it :p) with the CAA and the length of time it's taking them to get in touch with you, that's if they have bothered to get in touch!.

I sent all the information through to the CAA back in February 2013. Had an e-mail from them in August to say it had been passed to Monarch to review.

As 8 months had passed & I was still non the wiser as to the status etc I rang them (out of their office hours - after 2pm 020 7453 6888) and left a message asking someone to please get in touch.

I received a call the following morning (brilliant) saying that they knew the new ruling/guidelines were due out in July so they basically sat on my claim (and no doubt thousands of others) for 6 months until they knew what the new guidelines would be!

So again I queried what exactly was the status of my query..... a lot of blah blah about how many claims and timescales etc but basically they are giving/allowing the airlines 16 weeks (from when they passed your details onto them) in which to look into the matter THEN the airline SHOULD :rotfl:get in touch with the consumer!.

I tried not to laugh and mentioned that I though a lot of this was delaying tactics and that for the CAA to sit on my info for 6 months knowing full well it was doing nothing about it was ridiculous!

More BLAH...... but anyway she gave me a guestimate date of when to contact the CAA again should I not hear anything.

She also mentioned that they have categories of claims/cases in which they know some have no chance so just respond to the consumer advising as such, some which they advise straight away to take to the small claims court and some they refer to the Airline as they think a payout is possible.

She mentioned that they would put pressure on the airlines if they thought they were not following the guidellines.... :T but I personally (just my opinion) doubt it!

My personal take on all this is to give the CAA a call (call after 2pm (office hours :o) and leave a message if you don't want to waste your phone bill) and see what they have to say.
May be blah but they may follow up or give you an update! ... nothing lost ;)

My personal take is that you (and everyone else) is just wasting their time with the CAA.

Thanks for the feedback.

So you don't think there's much likely hood of this then ? She mentioned that they would put pressure on the airlines if they thought they were not following the guidelines....

I have read this thread and did think it sounded hopeful but thought the CAA may have stepped up to the mark and been wanting to knock some of this silliness on the head and alleviate some of the pressure on the CAA and MAKE the airlines take ownership.

Obviously the CAA can't hold a gun to their head and make them pay but can't they use thumb screws ??:rotfl:

Plenty on various threads on MSE regarding the CAA and their incompetence but they are unlikely to use thumb screws otherwise the airlines may stop paying their wages! You could always try the ex chairman of the CAA as he now sits on the Monarch Airlines board. Info regarding the CAA/Monarch also on this page > https://www.facebook.com/MonarchComplaints
• My court case is coming up in a couple of weeks.

The judge ordered that all relevant documents be sent to the court and to the other party. I sent all of mine, but guess what, surprise surprise nothing recieved from Monarch whatsoever!

Does this mean they are in contempt of court? I hope the Judge takes a dim view!!

Worth pointing out to Court now as letter you write will be on the file and the Judge may take a dim view.

Been in court today,re two people on two flights same flight number just a week apart, ext circs in both cases, the judge found in our favour on the first one but against in the second.
Sadly the judge would only rule on my claim and not my wifes as she was not a co claimant even though one transaction paid for both tickets. I now have to decide whether to appeal or more likely go through the process again in my wifes name. More details later.
