With my posts you often get better prices than you see on some of the suggestions on some of the wombles on here. Whilst the wombles, for example, may highlight in bold an item that is £2.00 in one place and £1.00 at a competitor (suggesting you buy at the £2 shop and compare vs the £1 competitor), I may well be suggesting a different competitor is 87p on the same item and therefore best buying vs them. Or I may not have the "£1" item at all, but instead be waiting until it reaches lower than that at a different competitor or at the competitor that currently has it at £1.
It's a combination of everything - waiting for prices to fall somewhere else, downshifting, going for cheapest price per g (although that last bit is more time-consuming, and I don't always manage to factor it in fully, as it involves checking across several competitors and different sizes that some may stock but not others, as well as seeing whether an A comparable item even with 10% lower than a competitor is still more expensive per g or not than a straight price match between S and T when one of those two is on special offer).
There are upsides and downsides, as with most things. Sometimes I fail to identify the cheapest 10p sweets fillers, because technically those sweets could be cheaper on another comparison or are not 'good value per gram' when in fact there is a glitch on and adding a very cheap item, even if you lose one penny, pays more than the minor amount that would be saved elsewhere (1p) as the glitch amounts to pounds and not pence. I think all methods need to be combined, for the cheap sweets to be used as fillers and also, elsewhere, if you need several items that compare well to one competitor, comparing to the cheapest price rather than losing here and there by putting them on a different comparison.
Sometimes those wombled receipts identify quite good comparisons on some items. But often they fail to identify that switching a brand could well find a competitor on half price, and far lower than the cheaper competitor on the wombled receipt item. Where the wombles excel is in identifying glitches that are even better than any of that.

Not been on much but I've quickly caught up to find I missed a very short lived glitch on the APG system. Not too bothered though as I wouldn't have risked going out last night due to everything going mental near me, police and helicopters everywhere
I'm not getting much sleep with the dogs, I've tried everything except leaving the tv on for a bit of noise. I've bought them new beds so they're off the floor a bit more, I've got them new cushions for them too and have spent all day with those beside me to try and get our scent on them to hopefully settle them.
DS is off school sick then said to me at 11 he'd have loved to be at school!
He hasn't been feeling too well since Friday when he went out with my brother to pick a birthday prezzie, he left some of his dinner but my brother left some too so he just thought they'd been given bigger portion sizes than normal.
On saturday we went to pizza hut for lunch just the two of us and he only ate garlic bread and 1 slice of pizza, not usual for him so I asked was he ok as he'd been looking forward to it but he said he felt ill.
We were due to go out on Sunday for a meal (tradition for us to go to the restaurant of birthday persons choice) I wanted to cancel but he said he felt ok to go then when we got there he said he didn't want anything
So today's his birthday and he's spent it feeling sick and tired, hopefully he'll feel better soon either that or we'll have to eat his cake ourselves and buy him another when he's better.
Is he definately ill or has he got something on his mind thats troubling him. My ds1's appetite disappears if he has a fall out with his friends or girlfriend. Hope he starts to feel better soon, thats the thing with kids, you feel there suffering tenfold xx0 -
Right, you may know what's coming, as these are some of the items that may have offers expiring tonight at T. A lot of them appear to be doubling in price. Prices shown beside them are the price information that is now showing on MSM. The Sugar Puffs for instance were £1.49. It's not just the C&B Chicken Soup: I think the Tomato and the Veg C&B multis have also been on £1.49. Seems like some of the butter/margarine offers are being rolled over though, but T Swirl cheesecake has doubled in price (again!) The Riverway Sausages (both) and the Red Dog Frankfurters appear to be doubling (hence free on DTD if you find old SEL). Some of these are a bit dubious, e.g. the apples and bananas. But nonetheless they are what I've added to my MSM list, over the last few weeks, for offers at T expiring 15/1, which I've now gone back to tonight. (There must have been a reason why I put them there.) The Aunt Sally Chorley Cakes may have increased by two pence recently! The Pork Farms anniversary pork pies are now £2, having been £1 (who ever would pay £2 for them, that is whoever of non-DTD shoppers???...) The N/As... may not be! The Cadbury Hot Choc. Puddings have been showing as £1 up to today.
