For once I am not grumpy, I've just had a very sad couple of days, so I haven't posted anything. I had to go to the funeral of a good friend yesterday who died at the age of 47, a week before Christmas. It seems that he was misdiagnosed after a car accident a couple of years ago which eventually resulted in him having a massive heart attack.
I knew a week before the funeral that he had died and I had been fine with it. However, when I actually sat down in the church, it hit me, very hard. When I saw all the slides of him and his family on the ohp and realised that neither they, nor I were ever going to see him again, I couldn’t control myself and the waterworks started. I had gone to the church completely unprepared, without tissues or anything to keep my dignity intact, just the back of my hand, which after a short time wasn’t really enough.
Anyway, a moral I can take from this (albeit a bit too late)..

Yes my eldest s weekly Sada spend is £25.
I am sure he could have doe better with his £31 though, more variety at least. And if he did have £31 a week he would gradually adapt, get better at bargain hunting, find ways to stretch it further.
Interesting that the government is proposing a flat rate pension from about 2017 of about £177, almost the same figure
Pensioners who don't own their own home would still be paying rent out of this. Ok they would save on bus fares if local councils continue with free bus passes and over 75s get free tv license and free prescriptions.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/life-on-benefits-the-starving-of-the-11-million-8448685.html?fb_action_ids=10151233793093403%2C10200317803288567%2C10151363282333891&fb_action_types=news.reads&fb_ref=type%3Aread%2Cuser%3A1gJ4V6mmhzNMrp0h_90src5Wy4U%2Caf%3Asb&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%7B%2210151233793093403%22%3A402121559873064%2C%2210200317803288567%22%3A402121559873064%2C%2210151363282333891%22%3A460849087296750%7D&action_type_map=%7B%2210151233793093403%22%3A%22news.reads%22%2C%2210200317803288567%22%3A%22news.reads%22%2C%2210151363282333891%22%3A%22news.reads%22%7D&action_ref_map=%7B%2210151363282333891%22%3A%22type%3Aread%2Cuser%3A1gJ4V6mmhzNMrp0h_90src5Wy4U%2Caf%3Asb%22%7D#access_token=AAADWQ6323IoBAPJmZAgPlTodw5KZAsuEGdTOhAiNJR5JImL6BYEdAPY9V2n6mjZBN3H5XqZAFZAH0PjncNcLgZC9OZAuZBCBR4MBTvLnZC9KPHQZDZD&expires_in=4917
Interesting read, although to be honest him moaning he only had £31 to spend on food and that it wasn't enough I find rubbish. I'm single and my budget is ideally £25 a week(£1 for each meal+£4 for extras) and I generally stick to it.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Mildred1970 wrote: »That's awful. Hows the baby doing now?
I would ordinarily suggest trying to explain reasonably to the neighbours that they have a poorly baby and naturally they are trying to keep the noise to a minimum but new babies do cry a lot, sorry about the noise, bear with us etc etc.
However, these people sound like utter buffoons and if any further exchanges occurred I would probably suggest earplugs.
You can't educate pork unfortunately
Perfect answer!!! I might also try to move the baby to a room away from the adjoining wall (if available) even if I had to go as well with a mattress on the floor blah blah blah. I would try anything to calm a crying child.
My OH used to take my eldest out for a drive at night....he would drive for about three miles and then come back home. mostly the plan worked but quite often it didn't and she would waken up as soon as the car engine was turned off at the front door:eek: In hindsight she was probably hungry- she grazes and exercises constantly:) They are all different and that wee baby is poorly too...an added dimension:(never stop doing your best because someone doesn't give you credit0 -

Another lurker on a late New Years resolution to join in if that's OK - Will try to post something useful at some point!!!!
Just wanted to mention to Spiraling Down regarding the dogs - DAP (Adaptil) also have collars available which mean the happy hormones would surround her and hopefully calm her the whole time. These collars are really long even for big dogs so you can cut off the end and put it somewhere like her bed so the effects are increased there. Good luck!
