i bought a £35 gift card for someone one my credit card, for christmas which they havent spent, can i make a claim to my credit card company to get money back via them. thought i remember reading somewhere it has to over £100, anything under 100 you have to go to administrator and unlikely to get anything.
must be terrible for the staff, our HMV was always busy when i went, obviously wasnt enough to keep going.

someone on hotukdeals said they tried to use gift card in store tonight and staff refused as they had an email advising them to - i think some people argued it as they hadnt announced administration at that point but staff still refused based on email from head office.

Where have you seen that vouchers are suspended? That would be illegal I think.

    Not illegal.

I don't think you can claim as it was not £100. :(

I wonder whether they reversed it following a very stern Daily Mail article in which they highlighted a young boy (I think he may have had a learning disability) who had been given a Comet voucher by a charity to get an iPad and had been refused - as far as I'm aware Jessops haven't yet reversed their decision to stop accepting vouchers.

One thing that has occurred to me is whether the flagship branch on Oxford St might keep trading. They're always busy, especially because it's a bit of a tourist hotspot, and there are still two Jane Norman shops on Oxford St despite the fact that they went into administration a year or two ago. Sometimes they do just keep one or two open.

Absolutely shocked to hear about the Argos rumours but tbh just the other day I was looking on there for a mixer, went to reserve one which wowed me with it's 30% price and then realised I couldn't be bothered to carry it all the way home so checked on Amazon and it was cheaper, plus free delivery! How can the high st compete...

Terrible news for all of the staff.

I am considering dropping by tomorrow to have a look at the discounts myself but with a stroppy 2 year old in tow I'm not sure it's the best idea.

Rumours are circulating on my facebook that Argos may be next. Has anyone else heard this? I have something ordered to be delivered this week.....

As far as im aware Argos are no where near that situation. They've got issues they need to turn around, but its not that bad yet.

Unless xmas trading was that disastrous for them?
  • Actually no, even a disastrous xmas wouldnt be bad enough to send argos over the edge it seems

Home Retail Groups share price still around the £1, and investors still sound fairly relaxed about their situation.

So its just some vicious rumour started by a troll somewhere...
  • I have logged into my HMV Pure account and converted my points into digital downloads and managed to download 10 tracks. Looks like you can still do that so if anyone has any points outstanding it may be worth converting them and at least you may have something to show for them rather than just losing them.

Nightmare time for staff in all shops at the moment as it will get increasingly harder to get another job as there seems to be the start of a domino effect
