I think if you re-read my post which you have quoted I actually asked "[if] they also observe people outside of the building etc" using CCTV or other means. AT NO POINT did I say that Atos (or anyone else) do use this method I merely raised the possibility that they might.

Dear atos rep, can you deny that recordings are made of attendants while thay are in the waiting room, and that their behaviour in the waiting room forms part of the assesment.

    Thank you

ATOS rep, my question appears to be one of the many you have overlooked. Or is it that you can't deny it? It would be good to know, seeing as we are paying your wages...
    ..'it' being recordings.

You then went on to say they can't deny 'it' because it's in their protocols:

They can't deny it because it's actually written into their protocols (http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/wca-handbook.pdf). Pages 44, 69 and 73 (and possibly others) tell the HCP to observe the client in the waiting area.

The question really is do they also observe people outside of the building etc after all, I am sure that these assessment centres will have CCTV outside to "prevent and detect" crime.

Which is untrue. It is not in their protocols that recordings are made of attendants while they are in the waiting room or to observe recordings.

I've re read your post and adding an [if] later doesn't change the inference of where you were going to start with or trying to reference a document to support a claim when it does not.

In any event, its been made clear CCTV is not used as part of the assessment, they are there to prevent and detect crime (no "" "" needed).

It's interesting how the mindset of a claimant is focused on acting out symptoms they perceive an assessor may need to observe to get more points.

They can hardly complain then, when their drama skills don't pass muster with HCP's.

Mathew tonight I'm going to be.....................the Atos Healthcare Company Representative!! :D

There's probably many things that aren't in their "protocols" like carrying out sub-standard WCAs but as we all know Atos carry out many many many sub-standard WCAs at great cost to the taxpayer and at zero cost Atos.

However I think given the drubbing MPs gave Atos regarding their inhumane treatment of the sick and disabled covert survalience of sick and disabled people could be a highly likely activity, protocols notwithstanding!

BTW are you people at Atos now calling those being called to overbooked WCA appointments 'attendants'!! :D

What about 'the types' who are very wrongly assessed by ATOS and the DWP ?

They're of no concern to Atos as seen when so called "healthcare professionals" find people fit for work then they die a few weeks later!

Recall how the MPs described Atos's treatment of sick and disabled people....inhumane!!

    See calumslist.org for many victims

The internet is full of Atos horror stories.
  • Since the Atos rep can't answer the simple question most of us are asking, perhaps they would like to comment on this.http://atosvictimsgroup.co.uk/2013/01/31/ex-atos-nurse-reveals-the-real-inside-story/

Fit people in work die all the time. It's not the work that kills them.

I love the evening ATOS reps posts, they follow the same selective pattern as the daytime ones.

Could you respond to post #817?

    Hi dori2o,
our remit on this forum is to explain more about our process so that we can help people who are asked to have an assessment as part of their claim.

Help will be the last thing people get from Atoss.

Although we aren’t able to give figures about our overall service,

Why aren't you able to do that?

it might be helpful to say that a very low proportion (less than 1%) of assessments result in a complaint.

The DWP will tell you different.

We take all complaints very seriously

I agree - very seriously ignorantly.

and we have a robust process for dealing with them

Yep, that robust process consisting of a robust metal object usually found under or to the sides of desks.

that is also audited independently by the DWP.

    Audited independently by your client?

The contact details for making a complaint are included in leaflets sent to customers before they attend an assessment,

Expecting them to make complaints, are you?

they are available at the assessment centre and they can also be found on our website.

    Unlike a quality service, then.

Are ATOS intending to change the job title 'Health Care Professional' to 'Care Professional' and drop the word 'Health' from the Job Title ?

Will ATOS employees using the Job Title 'Health Care Professional' have it changed to 'Care Professional' dropping the word 'Health' from the Job Title ?

'Care' doesn't belong on the same sentence as Atoss. And neither does 'professional', for that matter. In fact, probably not even in the same thread.

Aside from the fact it's doubtful you have every bit of info the GP/consultant does, it's not for atos to assess based on what the claimant says.

They assess on evidence from one professional to another, so GP/HCP.

So there's no point in having the assessments at all, then.

If you're indicating there is no additional medical info, just what you have thay have no reason to contact you since you'll have submitted all the relevant info to start with

Why should Atoss have access to this private information anyway? Atoss can hardly be trusted with it.

    Fridge3 wrote: »
This of course makes sense and quite clear why it should be this way and not just the claimant claiming they have xyz. This shouldn't really come as a surprise to you given your drama suggestion of acting out symptoms.

But then 'acting out symptoms' and succeeding just goes to show you how lousy they are at their job.
