Well I have to give it to Martin he has really done well in the google ratings, which I think is the reason for allowing Atos on here when no other forum would. This rep isn't here to answer questions that's plainly obvious from the cherry picking that's going on, and to be honest 99% of the answers are readily available on the Atos or the Dwp site.

Thank god for copy and paste.

Well Lets just hope people are reading this thread and finding out what ATOS are all about.
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Hence that is why I have refused to disclose any telephone numbers to the DWP or ATOS as well refusing to disclose who my GP is and the many consultants that look after me.

Everything in writing and if they want evidence they can write to me specifically stating what they want and I would be pleased to submit to them from the box files containing the many reports I hold - on average two files per annum!

No doubt they will not bother and call me in and give me 0 points! Thank goodness for the Tribunal Service that see things as they really are.
So ATOS aren't able to contact your own GP to query medical records, only write to the claimant to obtain copies from box files which surely won't include the same detail and context the GP has available.

Little wonder cases cases go to Tribunal and hardly lies with ATOS if information is witheld.

Why should the claimant make it easy for Atoss? If it costs Atoss more and wastes their time, then that can only be a good thing.

Atos should contact someone's GP to obtain clinical details. For some unknown reason Atos prefer to not follow their own Handbook procedures. Presumably this may because it strengthens the claimants case and upsets Atos's targets.

Maybe if Atos did their job properely in the forst place then there wouldn't be so mant cases going to tribunals.

This must be a shift change then! :D

"Little wonder cases go to tribunal" !!! Because one person will not give them a phone number. What bizarre logic.

I think you will find that many of the cases that do go to tribunal are because of the incompetence and negligence by the DWP and ATOS.

In our case if ATOS had believed our hospital reports, then it would have saved a lot of time, stress and public money.

Dear atos rep, can you deny that recordings are made of attendants while thay are in the waiting room, and that their behaviour in the waiting room forms part of the assesment.

    Thank you

ATOS rep, my question appears to be one of the many you have overlooked. Or is it that you can't deny it? It would be good to know, seeing as we are paying your wages...

They can't deny it because it's actually written into their protocols (http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/wca-handbook.pdf). Pages 44, 69 and 73 (and possibly others) tell the HCP to observe the client in the waiting area.

The question really is do they also observe people outside of the building etc after all, I am sure that these assessment centres will have CCTV outside to "prevent and detect" crime.
There is no mention of recordings (CCTV or others) being used for observation. That has been introduced and mis interpreted by poster here. The handbook refers to greeting the claimant in person prior to interview. In fact it highlights the professional, non confrontational approach that atos take to put claimants at their ease and build rapport for effective interview.

It is important that the interview is carried out in a friendly, professional and non confrontational way, in keeping with good customer service and in line with the approved practitioner professional standards. In keeping with the intention of ESA, it is also essential that the practitioner maintains a positive focus and approach identifying the claimant’s capabilities rather than a more negative approach mainly identifying their restrictions.

If possible, you should meet the claimant and accompany them from the waiting room. This positive initial point of contact will help put the claimant at ease and is a natural courtesy. From your point of view, it provides an opportunity to observe the claimant outside the examination room, and extends the time spent in contact with them. Most importantly, it initiates the rapport between HCP and claimant which is so essential to an effective interview.

Remember the claimant may be apprehensive, and that it is good practice to explain the process and purpose of the interview and examination. Allow time for the claimant to settle down before beginning the interview proper. This is time well spent as it allows the interview to proceed more smoothly and productively thereafter. It is also useful to explain that the clinical examination is not in any way a general "check up", but will be focused on the areas that affect the claimant in their everyday life. This explanation may forestall any criticism that the medical assessment was not thorough.

    Definitely a shift change. :D

What the Handbook says and what the reailty of the situation is with regard to the manner in which [STRIKE]you[/STRIKE] Atos carry out assessments is totally different as highlighted by the horrendous accounts detailed by MPs of all parties several days ago!

If the claim goes in with no supporting info, no GP or other consultants details to refer to it will be assessed on what has been made available.

Claimants not making it easy for ATOS are ultimately not making it easy for themselves. You've only to see the mindset of some bitter folk intent on wasting ATOS and HCP's time to see that.
