*i have had many failed attempts at soup...it goes stodgy in the pan n tastes of burnt flour... Even the cat wont entertain the chicken after...:-[
I have to admit I can't stand turkey mince. It even smells rank. As an alternative if you cook normal steak mince and leave it in the fridge the fat rises to the top and you can skim it off before reheating. I've heard people also drop an ice cube in to the cooked mince and all the fat solidifies and clings to that so you can skim it off but I've never tried that.
Ummm why do you have flour in soup? There is a recipe on here for tomato soup that is dead easy just basically just stock, tinned tomatoes and tomato puree - you could easily add some cream to make "cream of". And no real cooking involved just reheating!0 -

Lol carrie, I think perhaps you need some new soup recipes :rotfl:
Like you I hate veg, with similar horror stories but like you I love my tomato soup ( 1of5 a day) and I'm making more different soups myself. My fave is leek and potato. Put in a blender and its so creamy and smooth- same texture as Heinz tomato - I can swallow it ok
Today I made broccoli and Stilton. I HATE broccoli, but the Stilton which I love is the more dominant flavour. Once again a blended soup so manageable
I still can not eat broth, hubbies fav soup, so I make it and stick mine in the blender
I also don't like fruit once again it's the texture thing. I can eat soft fruits when ripe, but that's about it. However I do like some canned fruits. And canned fruit with total Greek 0% fat yoghurt is really yummy. And if you have a sweet tooth, add a meringue nest
Hope some of this helps. Good luck xx0 -
ive not been told by gp that i cant have anything, just cut down on junk... Nurses sheet is only a list. Thought that was standard procedure plus a bit more!

As this thread has now dropped down the Old Style board, I've moved it over to the Health and beauty forum to see if you can get more advice.

I don't think you would like slimming world if you do the Extra Easy as a third of your plate has to be 'super free' which is veg ...... or fruit. Can you eat fruit?? If you can, then maybe you would like the extra easy plan.
When you make spag bol, do you make your own or is it preprepared? Just switching Dolmio sauce to pasatta and mixed herbs cuts the calories.
You said you had to cut down on junk .... what junk do you eat? There is a fab secret take away cook book dirt cheap on amazon, it's amazing! Kebab meat tastes just like what you would get from a take away but its much healthier.
You've done really well so far!0 -
Be super careful with fat and Xenical. Not to put too fine a point on it, you will leak oil from your bum.
As a fellow veg-hating ex-bulimic, I hope I can help
I can't stand any root vegetables - carrots, turnips, butternut squash, etc. etc. and I'm not a massive fruit fan.
Chilli and bolognese are amazing for hiding veg in. My last chilli had sweetcorn, onions, 5 types of beans, mixed peppers and grated carrot in, as well as turkey mince. It fed 2 of us for 3 days and was super cheap - one meal with rice, one with wraps, and one as a pasta bake.
Stop seeing exercise as a punishment. Exericse is fun! Get a dance DVD, something like Latinasize (Insanity is AMAZING but very hard!) and do that a few times a week. Or get on the bike while watching TV. Or, while watching TV, do situps or squats in the ad breaks. There's loads of ways to up your actvity level.
Don't deny yourself things you like. Have one glass of wine instead of a bottle. Have a small slice of cake instead of a big one. Have cottage cheese instead of normal cheese, and Muller Light yogurt with sugarfree jelly instead of ice cream.
Good luck - you can do this!!

Just eaten 0% Total fat free greek yogurt for the first time - it's lovely, absolutely gorgeous and has no added sugar or preservatives. Expensive though - but worth every penny!
The Tesco own one is about half the price, but not as nice.
We tend to use tescos for mixing into sauces etc, and the total one for anything where's it's being used on its own...0 -
Thanks

i didnt like the price of the greek yogs, but activia snack pots were 5 for a pound in heron this morning ( on a veeeeryy tight budget) they say fat free so will give them a whirl. Bought foreign import ryvitas n low fat cheese spread. Low fat beef mince bought (yellow stickered in asda). Also bought the low fat mug shot pasta things as theyre low in fat.(thinking for work). Just found out that skips crisps are lower in cals than quavers and french fries. Also stocked up on skimmed milk, plastic milk, rice, tuna, porridge and go ahead bars for when im nibbly.
Ive not had any 'ill effects' from the chicken nuggets last night.. i think i got away with that. Since ive been taking the xenical ive had very few oil slicks unlike last time that was every day several times . Quite pleased really :-D now to meal plan... Tonights meal is smash and a small steak pie from the local deli. Mmmmm . The meats good stuff not fat ridden n the pastrys not overly thick n theyre lovely. Mmm the rest of the brood are having chips. ive opted for smash as i can portion control that more than normal mash.
Its going to be difficult to eat better over the next 2 weeks as im working 11-8pm. My lunch is at 3pm and get home around 8.15 so a decent meal is out of the question then. At work ive. Got access to a toaster, microwave and a fridge... Any suggestions?does my bum look big in this sig?0 -
My bum is sore from the bike. Pondering dusting off the stepper or the rowing machine as can do them downstairs.

just done 25 mins on the punishment cycle to work off the slice of oh's bday cake.... I know... I shouldnt have... But id have normally got a can of lager out n drank that while watchin tv after.
Few ppl at work go slimming world. Will poke about n c what i can muster
cream cheese... Is that cheese spread? I can do dairylea or philly or primula.....on ryvita mmmmm -
uht skimmed.. is that in tetra pack? I call that plastic milk i have that in my cuppas at work. - yep tetra packs. Just get the value line stuff - 50p a carton.
Granary bread... Is that the stuff that looks like its been at the bottom if a budgie cage? Never had ut b4 but it looks nice - Aldi's granary/seeded loaf is good as is the cheap one in Tesco. It's a purple pack - Wheatfields I think it's called. And yes, the crumb tray will look like the bottom of a birdcage!
my fruitintakes better.. gone from the free piece from work a month to 3/4portions a day :
Fruit tea... I used to have rasperry leaf whrn preg with ds n dd2... Wasnt that bad ... Any reccomendations on flavours? - I like red ones - cranberry and rasp, cherry and cinnamon, sanguinello (blood orange). Again, the cheap ones are really good. Tesco now do an apple and cinnamon one - that sounds yummy!
Thanks again
never seen turkey mince b4* will have a look as im making a shepherds pie for him n kids to eat one night next wk as im at work til 8. - cottage pie made with turkey mince is the BEST! . You'll find it beside the fresh turkey escalopes/breasts etc. Remember and use chicken gravy/stock cubes.
*i have had many failed attempts at soup...it goes stodgy in the pan n tastes of burnt flour... Even the cat wont entertain the chicken after...:- Hmmm, you don't need flour in soup. No wonder the cat's turning his nose up... :rotfl: [
