Congratulations on the weight loss- onwards and upwards, or onwards and weigh less!

As poster above I was going to suggest oat bran - Dr Dukan diet uses it. I make bran muffins & bran galettes (pancakes)

I was also going to suggest rolled oats for your own biscuits. I make very crunchy biscuits with cheapest rolled oats, some low fat dried milk and (filtered) tap water for my dogs! Sometimes dissolve a teaspoon of marmite in the mixing water. They are really hard and crunchy because I press them very thinly onto the baking sheet. When I have felt the need of a munchy I have stolen one from their tin! They would be great with cream cheese or cheddar- cheap too.
I think you could make oaty bars in a similar way but add grated apple as a natural sweetener (rather than the Go bars) maybe some chopped nuts & a few sultanas/raisins/chopped peel but make them quite thick so that they are chewy rather than crunchy. Certainly avoid the syrup & fat in trad. flapjacks.

Its a shame you reject all vegetables because you can fill up on them as they are low calorie. If you like roast potatoes what about trying roast carrots , onions & tomatoes? I always cook my veg in the microwave so that they are still crunchy.
Raw carrots grated? carrot sticks, celery sticks & cream cheese dip?
Last point. I notice you had fruit juice- better to have the piece of fruit as it has the roughage, and possibly less sugar.

Having said that you are doing well. :rotfl:

  • Falafels are chickpeas and herbs rolled in a ball. They're really nice but be careful you don't get deep fried ones! I like the make-it-yourself felafel kits from Mr S or Mr T supermarkets, really nice in a wrap with dark leaves and salad cream.

Well done on the size loss :D Do you feel better? More energy etc?

  • Eeevning and thanks for the encouragement! Just done 25 mins on the exercise bike tonight and now soaking in the bath. Took the family out bowling this morn as its my sons birthday kept flashing my bum at other bowlers as the new jeans ive bought ride down as a little big . But the other pair i got same size from same place wont go over my bum! Oh well theres a goal i suppose...just ben weighed and ive lost more weight despite having a mcdonalds for dinner on the bday boys request (only a happy meal tho)
Oat bran whats that?ive loads of porridge oats as my oh likes hm hob knobs... Has anyone got or can link me to the better for me oaty recipes plz n i will take a looksie.my day off tomorrow n youngest likes to bake when she gets on from nursery:)

ooh i ate a pea by accident yesterday.... I felt it in my mouth at the last minute Yuk. I dont mind raw carrots . Celerys bleh. And i dont do grown salad stuff either.
Energywise im tired tbh not getting much sleep and keep waking early. Periods due tomorrow cant say im excited. Suppose id better start on the iron med as theyre really heavy. Worse since i was sterilised . Currrntly Trying to avoid a hysyerectomy as i cant afford time off work. My irons generally fine but on a bad time of month its low.
does my bum look big in this sig?
  • Hm, if you're not keen on salad stuff and have low iron at times, try really dark salad leaves! I hate rubbishy iceberg lettuce and cucumber, just watery and insipid, but I really like rocket, baby spinach, big watercress leaves and the like! really nice with stirfried chicken :)

If you don't mind raw carrot try grating it into mashed potato?

Agree with HBS, although I have to say I do love iceberg lettuce when its really fresh and crunchy and love cucumber too. Broccolli also contains some iron, although since the OP is not keen on veg I'm not sure how you'd get it into your diet.
  • Freeze the blueberries and eat them like sweets!

There goes the mindset again...dark leaves are not traditional salad stuff as they have a flavour all of their own, not just watery and nothingy. Took me a while to try it. Baby spinach is my favourite.

Risotto rice cooked in vegetable or tomato stock with some frozen sweetcorn would go really well with the beef :)

Just found this oat biscuit recipe online which you might like to try.I'm sure it's American because it talks about cupfuls & Pam. I would use powdered sweetener, but a lot less. Also I would ditch the salt. Instead of apple sauce you could chop up an apple use it raw, or chop it and cook in the microwave that would be the equivalent of apple sauce:

7 Ingredient Oatmeal Cookie - sugar free

    Submitted by: JOEKNEE

    Introduction
Not my recipe. Have seen it floating around the internet. This is a "cakey" cookie that comes out almost like a muffin.
So many variations to try - sub pumpkin for the applesauce, add raisins, chopped nuts, cocoa powder...vanilla, almond essence.... have fun

    Minutes to Prepare: 10
    Minutes to Cook: 20
    Number of Servings: 10

    Ingredients
    • 1 cup uncooked oats - anything but instant and steel cut work well
1/3 cup Splenda (or equivalent sweetner of your choice)
      1 cup unsweetened applesauce
      1 egg
      1 tsp cinnamon
      1/4 tsp salt
      1 tsp vanilla
    Directions
Mix all ingredients and drop by big spoonfulls onto a prepared cookie sheet (I spray with Pam). Bake 15 minutes at 350. They are like little cakes - NOT a chewy oatmeal cookie. I made 10 of them with this recipe. I also used a calorie free liquid splenda, if you use granular splenda, account for the extra carbs.

    Number of Servings: 10

Just had a thought that apples cook down to almost nothing when you are stewing them so maybe you need more than one apple in the recipe?

Oat bran is the roughage part of the oat.(Unlike oatmeal which is the whole of the grain) It is fine cut and you can buy it in various supermarkets and Holland & Barrett.

  • Hi all

Just joined - I don't know if anyone else has said this but if you feel the need to snack at work I find that replacing brazil nuts for chocolate keeps the hunger pangs away. Plus there is less salt and sugar and lower in fat.

Exercise - love gym classes. Body bump and combat all the way for me. It's fun and friendly.

    Thanks to all for reading.

hi :) im under orders from my doc to lose weight as im fat. fairy snuff....
easier said than done for me.... i know i need to make better food options blah blah... but (and this but is nearly as big as mine) i need to find meals that i will actually eat.
so thats why im asking for your guys help as i know you lot like a challenge :)

i do not eat vegetables , nor salad things... unless its a baked bean or a potato.. the odd hidden carrot will get eaten if its buried....
i also do not eat most sauces, i will have curry sauce, gravy, bolognaise, chasseur and a basic white sauce.
sooo now you see why im a little stuck,... i live on meat, potatoes, pasta, pizza and ive just talked myself into eating rice with tuna.
soooo you lovely people what can i eat??? :D i need it to be cheap too as my food budget isnt large. the rest of the family (OH n 3 kids) can eat normally. i can cook and bake if that helps???
    TIA.

If you cut out the potatoes, pasta, pizza, and rice that will help. Fish is good, leafy green veg is good but you don't need to bother with lettuce. Frozen veg is nutritious and cheaper, you can get a bag in Iceland for a £1.
