  • I have just been lucky enough to be given over 3 dozen screw top kilner jars and have managed to find a nice cheap supplier of the sealing discs. £2.49 for 12 - anyone found cheaper???

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to refurbish the screw rings? I have seen on ebay that people refurbish them and sell them and was wondering how to go about it as many of mine look tatty. Also in the box with the jars was an unopened packet of 12 original kilner sealing discs - looks like they are pretty rare as I have only been able to find Leifheit ones.

Hi all, just wondering if you could help - I'm going to try making my own jam but could you tell me if a glass pasta sauce jar with a metal lid would work? I've read about cellophane and greaseproof paper lids and its a bit confusing!

    Thanks :p

I use all sorts of jars for jam. Pasta sauce jars mayonaisse jars, coffee jars. As long as they are sterelised they are fine. I have jam that I made last year and it has kept perfectly well. Not need for all that greasproof gubbins IMO
