well thats not what EE say when you speak to their CS or exec office. as they often charge me when this is not even active on any of my phones

Just to clarify - the only networks to charge for SMS receipts are Three and Orange. 1p for Three or 1p/2p for Orange. All other networks do not charge (not even EE/T-Mobile).

Hope that puts this matter to bed.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

  • This is the first time I've even heard of these receipts. Don't think I've ever had one, despite sending texts from several phones over the years.

The default settings is usually off so you have to turn on the delivery reports if you want them.
I've never use it unless it is an important text that I needed to know was sent ok then turn it back off
It's not just about the money

so EE dont charge for SMS receipts according to MSE members.

this is 1 line from my EE bill from November

    28/11/2013 09:36 SMS Delivery Receipt text 00:00:00 £0.017

what EE cant get is that this is not active on my phone and i send on average 500 texts a month, yet only have upto 6 SMS receipts, which i tell then that if this is active then their should be a receipt for every SMS sent which i know has been received as i get replies to them
