  • If the tracking advice is to be believed, my parcel of gap clothing has been at their depot since 31st December and now, 11th January I am no nearer to getting this delivered than I was last year!!
    - thus far over the course of the last week I've spent aboutfive hours on the phone  mostly to Yodel and a couple of times to Gap (thankfully it's freephone). At least gap answer in a reasonable time anddon't hang up on you, that happened once, 20 minutes, clearly answered by Yodel customer service thensilence!

    - Yodel take at least 10 minutes to answer a call, doesn'tmatter what time of the day
    - The parcel has been on the van nine times and apparentlythere is a problem with my address, I've contacted them and confirmed mydetails but the tracking still keeps saying 'incomplete address'

    - Despite there being an incomplete address at no time havethey EVER made contact with me as the customer or gap as the people they havethe contract with! I am told that after7 failed delivery attempts and / or 10 days the parcel is returned to thesender, it's two weeks and 9 attempts but my parcel is still at a depotsomewhere in the SE of England

    - They deny receiving an e-mail from gap, I trust this wassent as they appear to keep full records, what is clear is that Yodel speak toyou but don' keep records, on one occasion I was told maybe that's written on ascrap of paper somewhere

    - I was informed that they would pass my number onto thedelivery driver so they could contact me when they were unable to locate myaddress, I was subsequent told this could not happen and that my number was noteven on the system (this was when I was told a supervisor would call me back, difficult to do when you don't have a customer number!)

    - I was told they could change the delivery address but Ihad to contact the sender (gap) to advise them who in turn would advise yodel, which I did and was assured by two different yodel operatives on two differentdays that this was possible and that it would happen, they even assured gap itwas (who at least at the decency to call me back to chase up whether it hadbeen delivered or not) then I'm told when, after two days it's not arrived atthe alternative address that they can't do that and I should never have beentold this as the alternative address is covered by another depot so this isn'tpossible!

    - I'm still waiting for the call back from a supervisor (Iwas subsequently told by another operative that I shouldn't have been promisedthis as it cannot / will not happen) I was then told this would be escalated toa team leader to call me but they couldn't say when I would be called back, guess what, still waiting!!

    - My tracking advice states that a card was left, how canthis be when they cannot locate (incomplete address despite my various calls toclarify) the address (on subsequent occasions) and there is no card at myaddress, what else is this but a lie?

    - Have now told them twice that my parcel cannot be left aneighbour as vacant and others are businesses, but this doesn't seem tocompute, my latest advice is to go the delivery centre, which is over an hoursdrive, why pay a delivery charge when this is the best solution they can offer.

    - One operative even blamed the lack of experienced staffwho don't read things properly, well train you staff better then, in fact trainstaff, give them a sat nav - it's not rocket science,

    - I urge companies to change from this delivery servicesupplier because the only things you can guarantee is that they won'tdeliver!

I must have been using a different Yodel to everybody else because I have never had any of the problems people are posting about!

Sounds like they've lost the parcel. Reject the order under the DSL, get the refund and place a new order (if you so wish)

I think it depends on the individual driver, not the company - we had terrible service with Yodel, then the driver went to hermes. Now Yodel are great and Hermes are rubbish.

I've just wasted 2 whole days waiting for Hermes to collect 2 boxes from me for musicmagpie - obviously not a new situation for musicmagpie because they've said on the phone their procedure after 2 failed collections is to use Parcelforce.

Gosh, Yodel are truly terrible. An online shop I use regularly dropped their contract with Yodel and took a new one out with Hermes.....

Every delivery from Hermes, so far, has been on a par with Yodel. But the thing that makes Hermes worse?

Hermes end up leaving my parcel "in a safe place".....

    MY FRONT DOOR STEP!!!!

This has happened 4 times now and each time I complain. I wish they'd use Royal Mail! Never had a problem with them.

Just to add to this from my own personal experience, whenever I order anything online I always ask "Who is your courier?". If I am told Yodel I say "I'm sorry, I cannot order this from you as the courier you are using will cause me more headache that I am prepared to take. I'll buy elsewhere".

Eventually they'll learn. Cheap service isn't always best. Yodel are the worst courier service I have used. "Courer" and "Service" used very loosely.
    Kind regards,

I've just had a strange experience with Hermes.

I ordered something from Amazon and Hermes came round while I was at work. They left a card saying phone them to make alternative arrangements, so I did.

I asked them to deliver to my brother's house about seven miles away as he is home a lot, but they refused saying it was too far and they couldn't afford the petrol!

What sort of outfit are they? Couriers who can't afford petrol!!
