I live in a rural area and buy a lot of things online. I've rated all the courier companies that deliver to me as OK as by and large they do get parcels to me undamaged within the agreed timescale.
What I do find frustrating is so-called tracking systems that don't. One of them (Yodel?) states that progress doesn't get entered onto their system until at least 48 hours after collection, by which time it's usually with me.
I have moaned at companies a couple of times about the paucity of tracking information available from the couriers they use, but suspect it fell on deaf ears.
The only truely good experience I've had was an ebay purchase from the US sent by FedEx - 35 hours door to door with progress visible online all the way.0 -
Me too! Most items delivered within 24 hours, and on Saturdays.
I also use Parcel Monkey when booking City Link, it's much cheaper than booking direct.
See here is someone else who loves yodels service. Primarily I suspect because this person had no clue that this is a yodel company!!Never try to teach a pig to sing. It won't work and will annoy the pig!0 -
Don't forget - it's the company you're buying goods from's responsibility to get goods to you in good time, not the courier's - so yes, complain to the courier when things go wrong - but please, also complain to the company you purchased the goods from as it's THEIR problem to fix, and is also the only way it'll get better in the long run (as they're the ones who can put pressure on firms to improve)
Yep I did exactly this, told the whole story to Virgin Media and suggested they should try changing courier if they want happier customers. Got a £20 refund, which isn't much considering I was without internet for a month, spent tons on phone calls to Virgin and Yodel, wasted a lot of time, took a day off work and ended up having to drive to Loughborough to pick it up, but I just accepted it so the whole ordeal was finally over.0 -
Have had the misfortune of dealing with Yodel only twice. One item arrived at 9pm after I'd waited in all day. The second didn't arrive at all. To top it off, when calling customer service, I got through to a girl who had a totally couldn't-give-a-monkeys attitude. :mad:0

Interesting that you have "Yodel" up there twice.......... DHL (domestic UK) and Yodel are one and the same. Methinks you need to do your homework and re-start the poll
I don't suppose that The Barclay Brothers who own the company give two hoots as to how dire the service is - they will be far too busy counting their billions!I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.

The MSE site is quite high profile so let's hope Yodel and affiliated firms take this poll (unscientific but probably representative ± a couple of percantge points) as useful market research and put some corrective measures in place. In the long run that will be good for Yodel and the consumer.
Good poll MSE.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
Among the lot Yodel is the worst. Actually only Yodel is bad, in fact I cannot think of any courier who could beat Yodel at being horrible. I never use Yodel as such but amazon and some others send Yodel for collection. It is horrible on several levels. Hope it is ok to list them.
They never ever turn up on time. Hang on, they don't have a time, as far as they are concerned, they don't have a date either although we are offered a date for collection by the retailers.
They are trained with an encyclopedia of lies. The customer was not in being the most widely used one. But they are not clever enough to remember that the customer would expect them to prove that with a calling card. The other lie is that they actually collected the parcel, they have even signed in their books as collected, when the truth is they decided to go home and next morning collect it and reach their base pretending that they collected it the previous day. Then a very popular lie is that they have not received the collection advise from the retailer/source. So goes the endless list of lies and excuses but never a word of apology for inconvenience they cause.
They also employ old people who have no sense of orientation. My house doesn't have a number, just a name, so obviously you need to look for it on the gates and the fence which old people, with poor vision and who don't know to use the latest technology called satnav, would miss.
Then they have absolutely no sense of guarding security. I mean if John Lewis has booked a collection from my house, if I call and ask why they haven't turned up for collection, then they would give [STRIKE]lies[/STRIKE] explanations, which they shouldn't really. They should just say, 'please contact your retailer about this' and end the conversation. Instead they give out all the details in an effort to excuse themselves for not turning up.
Finally they opened our gates to our conservatory and in the process broke a garden statue, didn't say a word and left. I have a camera that picked it up but I didn't report because the statue was Buddha's, I thought he might not like it but really Yodel is an utter disaster.
UPS, DPD and Royal Mail are the best. I always like to have time and date for delivery and collection. UPS is a wonder, did you know that they own helicopters and airplanes?0 -
My daughter in law had been complaining on her facebook page about my grandsons main Xmas present who Yodel said had been delivered and signed for until my son went to the depo and they retracted the delivery. Her embarrassed friend admitted to delivering for Yodel and says they when they do the daily delivery to her home they often leave all the parcels at her neighbors by mistake. So if they can't even manage to get the parcels to the delivery drivers what hope have the rest of us got?
Note: A duplicated Xmas present arrived today by 24 hour parcel force.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210
