Thomson - Holiday booked then bump up price - Help

I'm not 100% sure but when the TA books the hol in the thomson shop i don't think they actually book it on the internet they book it on their shop system which shows a more expensive price than the internet. I think they then check it on the net match that then add £10pp for doing it. If it is the same price on the net now i think it does sound a little dubious because like i say the shop price is quite a bit dearer. I can't think of any thing else to help you out.0

Is what you've booked the same as the internet or have you got any extras added on ie 20kg luggage instead of the standard 15, seats together etc, as these can be removed if they've been added in. If the internet is still the same price as you saw before then the price shouldn't have gone up in the shop. As far as i'm aware thomson won't match their internet price, they'll book it at the internet price and add on a £10pp booking fee.
We booked first week of Dec for a holiday going this Sunday and the Thomson local shop price matched exactly for what we found on their website without adding a booking fee.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
I think the problem is that my complaint lies with the fact the agent told us x price and from her then booking it on (for whatever reason) it jumped by a few hundred quid.
Had her system not have crashed and we were there for her to go through the booking process, when she said the total price in the end we obviously would have been able to have that dialogue and say to her - "hold on a minute thats not what you said a minute ago, im not paying that as I've already seen it online at £2300' and then we would have went through the process of matching that.
Because the system crashed though I was denied that opportunity, and for whatever reason (whether it was always that price and she just said the wrong price, shes booked something else on by accident, its went up, its a fee - whatever) the price differed form the one she originally communicated to us, and as we wernt there to dispute it shes went ahead and booked us up to it and confirmed it all.
Pretty exhausted about it all now and it has put a total dampner on our honeymoon plans and what we should be sitting excited about now. Trying to remind myself it is only £150 quid now, but when I see it is still sitting online at that exact same price it is just all so infuriating.
Anyone ever had to deal with passing a complaint on to AM with Thomson before? Had no acknowledgement today from the branch they have forwarded the email and starting to get paranoid they wont send it / will ammend it or something.Saving for our next step up the property ladder0 -
I don't know, I wouldn't trust the shop either. You could try ringing another Thomson shop in the same area, checking that they do come under the same area then asking them for the AM's number?0

I have sent the email anyway and if I dont get a response to confirm its been sent on I will call them up again and find out if it has been sent, and if not why not.
Any advice on what my next step would be if the area manager isnt interested either? Should I just let it go or should I try to take it further to regional manager? CAB? Someone else? lol...Saving for our next step up the property ladder0 -

Its a difficult one.
I think it will come down to their word against yours and unless the AM is willing to concede, I susect you will have to let it go and think "it is only £150" and then tell your friends of your experience with this shop and hope they lose some custom.
Then next time you want to book a holiday, DIY on the internet may be the way to go, it must be 20 plus years since I last went in to a TA,IMO they are about as trustworthy as a an Estate agent0 -
Thanks photome
Yeh well its definitely a lesson learnt anyway!
Thanks all for the input, I will let you know what / if I hear anything back from the area manager and let you know what my next actions are.

Funny how once they conceded a discount the diffence became the same as the deposit which you would lose if you walked away.0
