If you can foresee the future (as you indicate) what's the lottery numbers for saturday please? ;)

Just plain sensible not to pay for something in this day and age until they have it in stock.

The number of folk that didn't know Comet were likely to go under 6-12 months ago astounds me.

Wow, silly me for thinking again that this was a forum for advice. Thanks for those of you that did offer a sensible opinion. As for the others, really i think you should find something more productive to do with your time.

Is it really the case that a shop can take my money for an item and then a week later tell me i cant have it??
    Surely this is ridiculous??

Maybe i was foolish for using a debit card, but i still cant see how they can justify not being to provide what i have paid for. Never mind the fact that if i hadnt had gone into the store today they might not even have told me about this eventuality!!
Am I missing something, they have offered a refund, so where is the problem?

The problem is i am not getting what i paid for. I spent time researching a tv to buy and i negotiated a good deal, how the hell can they take my money and then say i cant have it??

Many i am just uber-naive but that to me smacks of dishonesty.

Manufacture not having any in stock ?
Already had more orders placed for the allocated stock before you ordered?
    No longer made....

    Plenty of logical reasons.

Fact is they at least offered a refund. They could have kept spinning it out for weeks with "It's coming soon"

No matter how you pay. You cannot force a retailer to give you something they do not have in stock, or are able to source.

You knew they didn't have any current stock when you gave them payment. You took it on faith that they would get stock the following week. As it happened they couldn't get any stock and have offered a refund.

Again, they ar not saying you can't have the TV, they are telling you they don't have a TV to give you. What more do you want?

Maybe he was offering to help you out by looking for an alternative source for the TV at the price you paid. Clearly you're only interested in people agreeing with your point of view.
