Could you be that honest? ...

In answer to the OP, I think the whole point of people agreeing to feature on the show was that they would be honest, brutally so.
So in those circumstances honesty was the only policy.
Of course they'd have been better not agreeing to do it, but there'd be no point agreeing and then just being nice.
And don't forget, they may well have tempered their comments but the editing suite has a lot to answer for.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

It is true what you say about the editing suite, many a celeb says I came across bad, never said this or that and how badly it was edited, I know she looked very surprised when her ex was running her down and one boss was "telling you all this to help you in the future"0 -
I was watching a tv show the girl is followed around by a tv crew and goes back to her old haunts, boyfriends ,bosses, family and friends and they tell her where she went wrong, her mistakes, how her behaviour upset so and so, why she was sacked/ dumped etc
She looked horrified/ tearful/surprised/upset/lost by all this outpouring of honesty:eek:
She is obviously supposed to learn from the experience and better herself, change her ways in the future but she looked so hurt and wounded.
So could you/would be so honest?
Is it not best to just white lie to protect people's feelings?
Mojisola is right. Who on earth would put themselves up for character assassination by people from their past who've their own axes to grind?
Sounds like !!!!!! for bullies.0 -
That programme sounds dreadful. We can't go through life trying to pick up the pieces of the past - sometimes you have to leave the peices on the floor and move onThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

Think it depends how its done. There was a good documentary type thing on channel 4 where a guy went back to all his ex girlfriends to find out why he was dumped, but it was his own documentary and he knew there were going to be lots of negatives.
I think I would be interested to hear what people had to say...but I know I wouldn't like what I heard!0 -
tbh I think it depends on the manner of the 'truth telling'.
If it was something that they were totally unaware of it or it was, or going to have a major impact on their lives, then yes I think I could.....in fact I'm thinking of doing it with Junior.
Sometimes you can dress up something all you like but there comes a time when plain naked speaking is called for.2014 Target;

I don't think I'd be resilient enough to hear bare honesty like that from former colleagues etc. I doubt much of the content would be entirely new to me, but I'm quite capable of beating myself up for my faults as it is without additional post-dated input."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

That show sounds horrible. I don't see the purpose in it unless they are going to provide a team of people to help the victim change their life afterwards. I think it might possibly be useful if the person's problems all stemmed from one character trait and several people told her that and she could then work on it. But, how does it help to have an ex-boss say you were sacked for lateness and an ex-boyfriend say he dumped you because you weren't fun. What does that teach you and as Macca83 said how do you know these recollections are reliable.
Saying that, I do wish friends were more honest sometimes. I think a true friend is the person who tells you the thing you don't want to hear. You see people make the same mistakes again and again and no one tells them. I made a big mistake back in my 20s and after I realised and had to sort my life out lots of people said, "oh, I knew that wasn't going to work out" and "I remember telling Ann at the time that you were making a mistake"! No one at the time gave me any indication that they thought I was going down the wrong path which really annoyed me as I am the sort of person who would listen to what someone has to say.0 -
The boss on the show said he let her go because 'your heart was not i. It, I could see you we're not passionate and did not feel I wanted to invest money time in you as I could see the job would not be in your future'
I think everyone had a different idea of what their problem with her were because they all had a different relationship with her it seemed a bit cruel to hear all the negatives but there were positives .
There were no counsel lord etc afterwards or not that were seen on the tv show.0
