Girlfriend feels threatened by my friend?
Comments
-
I suspect what's freaking the current girlfriend out is the fact that his EX-girlfriend is going OUT OF HER WAY to leave comments on her EX-boyfriends' FB page knowing full well that the CURRENT girlfriend can see them.
Instead of 'letting go and moving on', she's making very complimentary comments in the style of someone who hasn't quite got over him and is waiting for him to come back if the relationship with CURRENT girlfriend doesn't quite pan out.
Which it won't, if CURRENT girlfriend is sitting there wondering if the OP is really faithful, if there's more to the comments than meets the eye and if there's no smoke without fire.
Why is she doing this? Do your EX and your CURRENT know each other personally? Is there some kind of grudge/feud/thing going on from before you got with your CURRENT?
Whether EX-girlfriend realises the effect she's having or not (and I suspect she does know), she sounds like a bunny boiler.
She's your EX-girlfriend for a reason OP. I understand, you want to remain amicable. You may share the same social circle, live or work in the same area but you really need to unfriend her/block her or whatever you do (I don't do FB, so I don't know) and concentrate on your CURRENT girlfriend.
This kind of behaviour is kinda, sorta worrying and is probably designed to drive a wedge between you and CURRENT girlfriend. which it will do if you ignore the effect it has on your CURRENT girlfriend. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Are you sure that's really what you think?0

the OP knows if her style of posting (nicey nicey OTT, bit gushing) is same for every person she comments on, or just him.0

PS her behaviour is obvious to most women but I can see that to a bloke it will be a non-issue because in the main men don't behave like that. So I think you should listen to your girlfriend and to us women who have replied to you !
Exactly! only a woman who still harbours feelings for you, and/or one who wants to wreck your current relationship would do this!
your girlfriend is right to be wary of this, to reassure her I would block this person, its way out of order!0 -
Seems I'm in the minority as I have a couple of ex's on FB.
If a friend's status was something like 'just bought my girlfriend a takeaway, now watching tv', I might comment 'lovely, she's a lucky one' but it seriously wouldn't mean anything. I wouldn't be doing it to cause trouble.
People seem to think FB causes problems, whereas I think of FB as a program and it's the people who use it that can cause the problems.
Why shouldn't the OP remain friends with someone. I don't get why not.
OP I would try and reassure your girlfriend, maybe introduce her to your friend so she doesn't feel threatened.
I would also use the phone rather than text or IM incase things get taken the wrong way.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

I've made similar comments when say chaps have posted pics of their latest cooking efforts or say a picture of what they have got their other half for their birthdays/somewhere they are taking them. Depends on the context and what she was responding too.
I agree. I too tend to 'like' comments mentioning me, just to show I've read it really.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
