Hi tess. if I am planning to use the carrots on their own ye I do blanch. well in a fashion I bag them up and microwave for 2 or 3 mins, but if I am using them for stew or soup I dehydrate them.
Today when I checked for freezer space I already have a lot of bags to use just as a veg so decided to do a mixed roast of carrot parsnip and butternut squash, great for a really easy roast dinner and marvelous for soup.Slimming World at target0 -
Afternoon! The snow has mainly gone here now, apart from the odd clump where the sun doesn't shine

Been to Mr M shopping today to get the main shop, although as usual I'll probably need more fresh stuff and some cereal for Mr KB towards the end of the week. I spent a total of £15.69, taking my total for the year to £234.72 and my total for Feb to £69.30. Not doing too bad.
I also managed to get some nice-looking sirloin steak quite reasonably too, so that's Valentine's night sorted.
I also got quite a lot of bread, so we shouldn't be needing that for a while.
Tea tonight is going to be fajitas - nice and spicy but simple to prepare as today has been a bad day! Have a good evening, everyone. Take care.

4 NSDs for us as far as the GC is concerned which is just as well as we have had insurance this week followed by a new car battery and then the Hoover packed up
Sticking to our meal plan and should only need milk, bread and fruit this week. We have just got to be on budget this month now. Wish me luck.:(

Spent £3.06 at the local shop on two tins of Heinz Tomato soup and four bread rolls - painful! DD had a friend round for tea and that is what they wanted. I usually have tomato soup in stock.
I will still be under budget, really chuffed. I will use the surplus for the holiday next week, some of which will be food spend anyway. I am going to do a meal plan for some of the meals while we are away and take some basics and spices, but will relax a bit on the frugal front. Got a feeling I will still be working out price per kg!Grocery Challenge (2 adults 2 kids)

NSD for me today- could do with having been for milk but I just couldn't get out of the office on my lunch break so didn't.
Also means I didn't get chance to pick up some holiday brochures which I want too

We've spent somewhere around £25 (rounded up) and covered the week with that, puts us way under GC budget, pity my bank account isn't looking so healthy (lots of other, little spends, allocated to holiday - but with no planned holiday spend budget ).
Still, I now know we can do this, and so will be cutting our budget next month, which is great!0 -

We found a big bag of ys bean sprouts at Te*co over the weekend, but now I'm struggling to figure out what to do with them. We are out of soy sauce as well. Any ideas?
I just put half a bag in a fish and noodle broth I was making. Sounds funny but tasted gorgeous. I just put them in the stock & vegetables at the end just as I added the fish chunks and then simmered for about another 2 minutes. They gave a nice little crunch to the whole thing:)

Had to nip into Al*i for a few bits and as DS has bad cold I ended up spending over £11 on grocery and medicine
Keep saying I'm going to try harder ...and I will!
