Help! My boys have been ill this week so have barely drunk any milk. I bought a 4x4pint pack at Costco last week and still have 2 unopened bottles that are OOD today. Does anyone have any baking etc suggestions to use some of it up. I don't really want to waste it all - the wee monkeys usually get through 4 pints a day! TIA

Scones and pancakes use milk and can be frozen very successfully so you could make loads?

How about making say a pasta bake using cheese sauce and feezing it for a ready meal (or eating it if you have the space in the meal plan!). Could also make lasagne or a 'cream of' soup but would use less milk up!

Or you can make your own yoghurt (external recipe here) which keeps for around a fortnight.

Or make HM custard or bread and butter pudding for dessert (don't think you could freeze this though).

    Hope these help!!

EDIT looking at how much you have - might need to make a combination of things! But even if you can save some/most of it that would help.

Bluegreen good luck with your budget this month. All we can do is our best, and try again next month. Goodness, i forgot about valentines day, perhaps i'll be a meanie and say that there will be no treats due to it being lent?;)

Started with a stomach ache last night and still feeling unwell this morning so this may account for some of my grumpiness yesterday :o

Well done aussiemum on doing an inventory and first meal plan. I know that when i meal plan i find it much easier. If i pick up today i will do one myself, but at the moment the thought of dinners makes me feel yuck!

Adysmum, sorry i can't help with the milk situation as i only ever use uht soya milk. Hope your boys are on the mend.

    A nsd for me today.

    Have a nice monday all.

    .

Mmmm that sounds delish. Just the kind of thing I love.
I've started w*ightw*tchers (again) I want to lose a stone and try as I might I just can't do it on my own. Will add my progress to my sig. So yesterday I was trying to make something hearty with few points and made beanburgers throwing in 2 carrots, an onion and some marmite in the food processor and dry fried them. They were soooo tasty!
I'm eating a lot healthier. As a vegan I'd got into some naughty habits. First weigh in is tonight.
(Sorry off topic slightly but quite excited)
Doing quite well with my grocery budget this time as well :)
Good luck to everyone for a great week

Some snow here but not as bad as it was forecast.

Gave in and went for some fruit/veg today and spent £4.56 got apples, oranges, pears, cauli and some mushrooms.
We are having cauliflower cheese for lunch and hot dogs and onions tonight followed by hm egg custard to follow. Meat balls and pasta with mushroom sauce tomorrow night - got everything in for this so hoping for a NSD. Going to start meal plan this afternoon from Thursday until next Wednesdayand I must remember to include meals using up some of the meat out of the freezers. Plus I really want to try a rice pudding done in the slow cooker so will see if there is a recipe in the index if not will search the web.
Spend wisely everyone and hope its a good week for us all. :rotfl:

Had quite a lot of snow yesteray and overnight , footpaths to slippy to venture out so a nice cosy day in the kitchen.

Went to aldi last week and got 5 killos of the 39p carrots, so plan to sit at the kitchen table and prep them for the freezer, I can admire the snow out of the window, it looks so pretty,
