I feel that after a triumphant January I'm really struggling,
It doesn't help that I've bought a couple of bottles of vino as had visitors last week ( my brother and his new GF) and they coming again this week - so more vino out of my GC
That aside , even if I do go over budget ( I think I will) I think I've still cut right back on food buying ( just for the sake of it)
Is it just me or are many of you struggling this month?

Don't worry you are not alone -I am always struggling and have been doing this challenge for four years!

The one thing I can say, is that it makes me much more aware of what I am spending and I am certain that I am spending alot less than I would have done:D

NSD here and the last day of my week so a bit of money left unspent. :D
Dinner was roast chicken, HM potato wedges and salad - celery, red onion, white onion, pepper and sunflower seeds. As I write this - realise sous chef didn't get me a carrot from the garage - can't get the staff these days. :rotfl:

Hello, I am feeling exactly the same, although I have not had a successful month yet at all :o

I felt as though everything was going well, but then dh went shopping by himself at the weekend and spent £41.77. It is all on items that we will consume, but it has rather made the rest of the month rather tight.

Also, I forgot to budget for catering for Mum's 80th birthday this month, so I know that we will go over, but I don't mind for such a special occasion.

Today I have been all sixes and sevens, feeling grumpy and eating more chocolate than I should, but tomorrow I will menu plan and try and manage my money as best I can.

    Have a nice evening all.

I stocked up last year on Cu$he11le when it was on special offer at Lidl, and I'm now running very low. I'm horrified at the price 12 months on - it's gone from 27p a roll to 37p!

Does anyone know what is reasonable this year, and where would be the best place to get it?

I really like Iceland petal soft 3ply 4 for 2.00,been this price for ages, but went to Bm last week and got 9 rolls for 1.99, called triple softee. so 22p a roll, and they are 3 ply, also lotion tissue so very good for colds, supposedly fragranced but I didnt think so .

Didn't quite stay on track with menu plan - but did manage to aviod supermarket this weekend. Did buy bread flour (89p) then went to local shop and got bread, cola, stir fry veg and sweet on sat - came to £7.50.
Was very naughty tonight and got Chinese take away - we wanted to celebrate chinese new year. Came to £20.60 for the 5 of us - very indulgent abd to be honest wasn't that nice! Would of been better making my own!

So total spend this week including takeaway was £28.89

I need dish washer tablets so need to make a trip to local shop tomorrow but will try to only get the 1 item!!!
  • Feeling rather happy with myself :D ,,, I just did an inventory of my freezer and pantry And my first ever meal plan :j
