Oct 2025 Grocery Challenge: £302/£3000 -
went shopping yesterday spent 15.76 on whole range of food got great whoopsies 15p for a turnip, carrot, parsnip, onion and green soup veg all in a bag in mr t so cooked turnip for tonights tea and froze other half, also got veg soup in sc with the rest of the veg will make loads and freeze some. i have been noticing a lot of the more fancy foods in the discounted fridges i was thinking maybe its because peeps cant or wont pay the mad prices for them. also noticed hardly any meat recently some prettygrim looking chicken breasts which took on a lovely green hue was about it,managed to get a pork joint hiding at the back for 2.35 quite big so will cook and freeze it. anyway i finding the whoopsies are getting harder to get , but still managed to get some good bread down to 15p and a few bread rolls packs 5p and pancakes 5p so freezers filled again.....i really do need to stop buying as 1 of my freezers needs defrosting have a good day all xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

Grrr overspending
hoping to only go once next week before I go away and not to spend too much either as nearly at budget and ideally I would like to get my grocery down to £300 by the end of the year??? Will I manage that?? Anyway Mr T £24.10 and Ald! £7.67. and £20 to last till the 21st 0 -
Just got back in from the Co*p, spent a fair bit on some of their special offers on pg tips, andrex toilet rolls, meat and cheese. Have completed splitting the costs over weeks 3 and 4 and have the following left for each week:
Week 2: £13.81, Week 3: £31.80 & Week 4: £23.81
It seems that the Co*p may be more expensive than other stores but as I don't drive I find it convenient to shop there as it is only a 5 minute walk.
For many years I have done a monthly internet shop but I found that I was spending more this way. I find it easier to manage on a weekly basis, as my brain easily gets overwhelmed, probably due to fibro.
I need to go and prepare dinner for tonight; not sure if to do meatballs in tomato sauce or meatloaf? Also, I will split the meat up that I have bought today and put in the freezer.
Wishing you all a nice day.

Just worked out that I'm already nearly £9 over my £50 budget.
I've stopped eating meat, refined carbs (bread, pasta, white rice, etc), dairy, and all processed foods though. I think that I'll be able to do this for £20/week from now on for two people, maybe less if I can catch ys items.0 -
Checking in. Not spent anything this week so far but will be hitting the shops today as almost out of a few things and need some fruit and veg. Am going to try and shop around instead of going on auto-pilate and just buying what looks good.

A1di & Te$co this morning and spent £35.30 between them. Got charged for 4 milk when I only had 3 so £1 too much - didnt relise until home and not worth going back about as a few miles away. Yesterday I searcehd the fridge for some ginger paste which I knew I had but couldnt find it so brought one today costing £1.50 and as soon as I got home and openend the fridge guess what fell out - yep the ginger I was looking for yesterday. It will get used eventually.
Mixed some bread dough yesterday and left it in the fridge overnight, it took over the fridge :rotfl: was spilling out of its tin but have recently cooked it and it looks good so will be having a slice or two in a minute for lunch.
The crab cakes last night were a hit, we all enjoyed them and tonight we are having hm chicken tikka masala, rice and naan. Will be putting the chicken into marinate in about an hour.
Hopefully have a meat order arriving later this afternoon. This is paid for out of other money but when used the cost is taken from the grocery budget and saved elsewhere ready for next order. Everything so far we have had has been far better than supermarkets and slightly cheaper.
Seems to be some low spends so far this month so keep it up.
Heinzzz tom soup is still 4 cans for £2 in Te$co if anyone can use it, look carefully though cause also some are £3 for same!!!! Its the only soup I buy ready made.
Fruit, veg & flowers to get on Saturday so hopefully NSD tomorrow.MARCH £62.38/2500
