Hello, a NSD for me today, didn't go to the shops as busy trying to get rid of the paper monster that has taken up residence in our dining room. Scary how old some of the paperwork has been that I have shredded today.
My 1st week has finished now and I have £11 over that I have put away in my savings tin.
Been looking through the freezers and have made a note of what I have in already and I have enough meat to definitely last for week 2. So off to the Co** tomorrow to pick up some fresh fruit and veg.
Off to browse the menus for some inspiration for next week's dinners.
It certainly helps me to be focussed doing the grocery challenge and also makes it easier for me to work on a weekly/fortnightly system. It has only taken me over 20 years to find a system that works!
Have a nice evening all.

No spend day today and despite being late home due to parent evening stuck to meal plan instead of calling into chippy or McDs. Also even though I was so tempted just to sit down after clearing away dinner things I stripped the chicken carcass and have frozen the good meat that's left, including little bag of small bits good for pizza topping and am making stock. I know i wouldn't do it if i left it until tomorrow as i'm working all day and then at college until 8 so probably would have ended up wasting the chicken. Am feeling a little smug with myself, though I know it's being in the challenge that motivated me. Hope I can keep it upFeb GC £487.53/£490

I cooked my chicken yesterday and have frozen the bits today, I believe that it's fine to freeze cooked chicken as long as it hasn't been frozen before or reheated. I will make sure it's heated through thoroughly when using. I think if I had left it until tomorrow I wouldn't have frozen it, but I'm sure someone else knows more and I'd be interested to hear too.Feb GC £487.53/£490

I had a chippy tea as didn't go to the cinema with hubby. A £6 total spend, I needed milk from the co-op too.
If I'd gone with him, he'd have paid (different budget) lol.Grocery Challenge January 2013 282/300

Morning all!
A NSD for me yesterday, but will need to buy some bananas today.
Another day of not much cooking as this is my 5:2 diet fast day. At least is gives me a break from the cooker:D
A few years ago I noticed tiny moving dots in some of my flour. It was during the warmer summer months and they were in a bag I had stored for a while. I often peer into a bag now just to check, and find that usually it is ok, but I do tend to use flour up quickly just in case.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
