also where have people sourced their pocket folds from?

I ordered a sample one online then made my own. Bit fiddly but really not hard if you like making things and quite satisfying. You'll need a guillotine and a scoring board (or similar) luckily I borrowed the guillotine from work and the board from my mam otherwise it probably wouldn't have been worth making them with the cost of buying those things.

    Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hello ladies - I'm so impressed with the amount of DIY going on! Totallt love this sort of thing, moneysaving, more meaningful on the day and obviously unique!

I'm making as much as I can (may not go the whole hog and make the cake though! H2B wants a 'proper' cake !) thinking abiut flowers thiugh, and definitely all decorations etc.

So far printing save the dates - will post a pic when finished, amd I've worked out how to, lol!

Also, made a protoype for chequebook style invitations. But looking at Rubysmummy's pics of the pocketfold ones I'm debating these instead. How do you keep them shut? Is it glue dots, velco? Or something else?!

Thanks in advance, and happy DIY-ing everyone!!

Hey bex's mum, where did you get your buffet/evening menu etc. stands from? Also your stationary has a running pattern through it, is that printed or was it a certain type of paper! I love all your pictures! I get married in august and just putting together a list of all the things i need to make and do before then!

The buffet stands were from Ikea - cheap and cheerful but did the job! Hopefully you have an Ikea near you?

The pattern is just the scroll that I used for the invitations which I blew up and put behind the text, it turned out a bit pixelated (sp?!) but it looked fine so I gave up and left it alone.

If I can help with anything else give me a shout!

Bought everything from PDA Card and Craft - their site isnt the best for navigating around, but all the paper/card/folds and envelopes came in at £50 delivered.

And they have a very good customer services if you need to call them. Would definitelt recommend them.

I didn't glue them down. I used a "belly band" - basically just a piece of paper wrapped around them then double sided sticky taped down so they could be slid off by the receiver (or ripped as most people did) to get into them. Then stuck a square of gold and a little monogram on.

But I looked at sticky dots (too sticky - couldnt get them apart) velcro (too big and stuck over my diamontes) so that was my decision for the belly bands.

    Hope this helps, Bexsmum

Anyone ideas how to make decorations?

Also, we dont have access to decorate the room until after the ceremony so any suggestions there also welcome!

So far I've got stuff to make invites. Woo, progress!

What sort of decorations? I made a load of tissue pompoms - huge things - to hang from the ceiling then in the end didnt need them! They werent too horrible to make and effective. But fiddly I will say that.

I bought everything and made table decs and bought the organza bows and did the chairs for the ceremony

The bowls had little waterproof lights in them - in total each of my table decs came in at £7.50 per table.

i also did this, my OH is a joiner so too the sample and made a wooden version for us to cut out all the pocketfolds, very clever i thought and they worked perfectly. All in all cost us £30 to make 45 day invites and 40 evening invites, we used a3 and got two invites per sheet.
  • bexsmum im also doing the flip flop basket along with the hangers, although not as artistic as im using a sharpie pen to write the names on, hopefully should have more pics to post after tonight :) x
  • i have also decided to do fake cakes :) well maybe one real cake for cutting. The rest fake and then have a dessert table with cake pops and cupcakes surrounding it, i want to keep the main cake plain white with white flowers, if i show you a picture Bexsmum could you help me with the flowers?
  • I got married on the 26th January and thought I would share a few photos of things that I made for my wedding.

My bouquet is the brooch one and my sister's (bridesmaid) was the foam rose and brooch one. They looked stunning and got a lot of compliments on the day.

The birdcage is my seating plan for the wedding breakfast. I had to paint it white (it was rusty red) and then attached the origami paper flowers that were spare from the table centrepieces. We used the milk jugs (bottom right) with the paper flowers for the table centrepieces.

This went down very well. Instead of labels I made the owls to decorate the jars and fit in with the owl theme.

These were my wedding favours. Inside them I put 2 thorntons chocolates. There wasn't one single uneaten wedding favour!!!
