    Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Hi new2saving,

I'm not sure how to go about posting pics on here, but will give it a go sometime! I was just trying to use a word document, but it was quite tricky getting the wording in the right place. I currently have it in text boxes, but with invisible lines. I might make some of the lines black againto help me cut it a bit straighter! I was going to use the guillotine at work, but it's not very straight actually (v. old!) so I might stick to craft knife and ruler.

Just about to move house, so sadly all the DIY is on hold for the next few weeks. Do need to get our save the dates out in the next month or 2 so I'll need to keep ploughing on with them...!

Hope everyone's projects are going well :) x
  • Hi guys, I love the idea of making my own save the date cards, invitations and flowers but I actually don't know where to start?

For example if I look to do my save the date cards, how did you decide on the size, source the card, magnets, wording, did you print them yourself? I'd love some advice but also does anyone have any price comparisons of how much it would have cost them to employ someone else to make things, compared to the cost of you making them?
  • They are beautiful and so different. I really like the jewels on the bouquets on the confetti winter inspiration board

Has anyone done any more DIY projects? Ive had the idea now to do seed paper to have to take home for the evening guests. i originally wanted to do these as favours but then decided that not every person would need one it would be more one per household so decided to go with perfume, i then thought if i do a nice basket as a thank you gesture people can take these home if they so wish. - i have run out of ideas now tho that i can do :( although i am making my best friends wedding cake this week so that'll keep me busy x

Can't give you any ideas on pricing as we aren't that far ourselves yet. OH is great with Photoshop so is designing all our wedding stationary and we're then going to get some quotes regarding prices.

We've looked on Pinterest and eBay for most of our ideas.
Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

Busy saving for my wedding July 2014 :o.

Hi teenyhev, I've just started working on my Save the Dates. I ordered some miniature vintage-style postcards from ebay:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130627831127?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I'm then printing out details for the back of these (our names, date, website address) onto card, and then just sticking the 2 together. Ordered envelopes from amazon that are sized for florist message cards. They are tiny, but we plan to hand-deliver the vast majority, and they look sooo cute :) I'll post a pic once they're done. Plan to make our own invites too.

Friend is helping me make a brooch bouquet - there are other posts here with more info on how to do this. Again I've bought some brooches from ebay, got them for about £1.50 each. Looking around in charity shops that I can pick up cheap. My mum is going to give me one of her lovely brooches, and I'm hoping to get a brooch from each of my grandmothers. Ebay also have pearl stem sprays & packs of loose pearls, which I'm hoping to use for bridesmaids' bouquets & the men's buttonholes.

Was at a wedding on Friday where they had a basket of flipflops - turned out to be a god-send as the strap broke on 1 of my shoes :(
Thinking of doing this myself - anyone have ideas on best place to buy flipflops?

Ooo, love the idea of the bathroom baskets!

My list of bits I am hoping to make so far looks a bit like this:

    - Save the dates - Now made and sent out :)
    - Invitations - Worked out the layout for the invitations at the weekend so just need to get them printed and start putting them together!
    - Places Names
    - Favours
    - Loads of bunting (around 500m :O) Have cut out and sewn(well MIL has done the sewing!) enough bunting triangles for around 250m worth of bunting. Still a fair bit to go!
    - Table Plan - Have bought miniature luggage tags to use on the table plan, but having heard from lots of brides that they had to change their table plans in the few days before the wedding, so won't be sticking anything down until the night before!
    - Kids Activity Packs
    - Signs for around the venue (bar/toilets/etc)
    - Candle Holders - OH has been working away and has now made 25 candle holders from hollowed out logs, need to do about another 25
    - Jam Jar Vases - Have collected over 100 jars, now need to wrap them with hessian and lace.
    - Table Runners - ordered hessian and lace to make the runners, just need to measure the tables before I start sewing them.

Can't think of anything else at the moment!
    Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!

I got mine from primark in winter when they were in the sale - £1 each, i just bought 5 or 6 every time i nipped into town and so did my mum, i think i have about 30 pairs - we have about 45 lady day guests and then an extra 30 at night but i thought the ones at night probably wont have sore feet as much as the day guests. Try ebay, or any wholesale shoe places (this is where i might get my bridesmaid shoes from as i have 7 pairs to buy and works out cheaper than individual ones) or b&ms, a lot of places will have them now ready for summer. When are you getting married??

I have just bought some hot fix diamontes and transfer paper - my next project is to make my bridesmaids pj tops for the morning of the wedding. because i wanted blue bridesmaid in diamontes on them i was quoted £5 plus p&p on ebay each - so googled and youtubed it and ive bought everything ready to try it - cost me £5.99 for everything so i shall keep you updated if it works :) i hate paying over the odds for things which i know (well hope :) ) i can do myself. Has anyone else ever done the hot fix things on clothes?
