May I firstly start by thanking everyone for posting code words on here, they are very much appreciated by myself and my family. But I am now confused when you say about the excel document, what do you do with this and how does it work? Or is it best just to keep watching this space to see what last word will be?

Once we have 9 words, and the booking site opens (hopefully) on the Saturday, then we can try and guess/crack the final word in order to get early booking to hopefully get the best dates before they sell out. Either you can do this by manually entering words into the booking page one by one, or there is an excel spreadsheet that someone made that does it for you but much quicker.

You can google scrabble 4 letter words, then copy and paste into word, then put the spell checker on and remove the miss spelt words. If we all take a letter we should crack it

And here is a link to the spreadsheet, you will need to change the code words as they the words from last year

    https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B51...zZDEy&hl=en_US

Also you need to put the first part of the your priority reference into REF1 and the second part into REF2 and enter you email address at the bottom.

Once you have done that, and the booking site opens then you need to change the Start at line field to the line number that the words you want to check start at in the words tab

Link doesn't work for me either however being a child at heart I instantly noticed these two that I doubt even the Sun would use.

It worked okay for me, I got it from the first post on this page from last years thread.

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3733103&page=3

Maybe you have to be signed into Google so that you can access other peoples documents on Google drive

It works if I follow that link ... odd :)

Does anyone understand excel macros? This one is almost the same as the one I tinkered with (except I left out a line, so whoever I emailed mine to yesterday please ignore it!!) but I am wondering about line 51 of the link you posted. Should it say item 7? I was thinking item 11 instead - but like I said earlier I don't know how to write code!

I am reading back through old threads, and I thought this helpful post might be useful to those who want to join in with the code cracking spreadsheet. EDIT: To make it clearer because the post Jemma was answering isn't displayed - the questions were:
    1 . how do i enable macros
    2. it opens up on an excel spreadsheet then what ?
    3. is this easy to learn .. ie .. excel the idiot proof guide
    4. do i need to disable macros after ... what is macros ? what do they do ?
    Jemma123 wrote: »

There is no such thing as a stupid question....

    1. Tools - Macro - Security (medium Security recommended)

    2. You click the button which activates the macro. The macro has been recorded to open the website and fill in the form with the nine code words and the sun ref number. It will also enter one of the words listed on the code sheet (1000's of 4 letter words). To make the process quicker we each work on words starting with different letters of the alphabet.

Macros can be recorded to do malicious things on your computer e.g steal or corrupt your files. You must make sure you trust the macro before running it. This is not easy for a beginner to judge.

    3. Excel can be a challenging program for anyone to learn. To use the file you need only to know how to open the file and click in the cells (little boxes) and enter your sun ref number and code words, then the button to activate the macro.

    4. For reasons explained above it would be a good idea to disable macros after you have finished with the file.

    Hope this helps!
