I like Yodel and reading the problems on the page I could of swore they were talking about MyHermes.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • plonked it on its side when the box clearly states "keep upright at all times".
    .........
    Utterly incompetent.

I think the term you want is "plonkers".

On 4 January I finally received a Christmas present marked as "despatched" on 17 December.

I am not sure if that is an improvement or not. My 2010 present was never delivered at all but my wife got her money back and bought it in the sales elsewhere.

for yodel to deliver my daughter's christmas present which was order on the 15th december

when i checked the yodel site, it's apparently waiting for me to pick up from the depot, not sure how i'm supposed to know this as have not heard or had a card from them. besides, i've paid £7.95 for delivery, i dont see why i should fetch it myself.

i rang the supplier, an amazon marketplace retailer, who promised to send out another, still waiting for that one as well

have now contacted the supplier again through amazon, and will give it one more week then will file a claim with amazon.

yet something i ordered after christmas arrived the next day (i paid for guaranteed delivery before 1pm and it was delivered to my dads)..... probably wasnt yodel.....

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was expecting a delivery by Yodel with my order from Boots today.

This evening i checked the delivery reference via my order/despatch confirmation from Boots and was very surprised to see that my delivery had been delivered and signed for by someone with my surname at 1842hrs.

Well I can honestly say that no one from Yodel came to the door at this time. My OH, mum, her friend and I were all in the house at the time, my mum was in fact looking out the window as was waiting for a taxi for her and her friend and we were waiting for a takeaway to be delivered. We also have dogs who go crazy when a delivery van is outside and they were quiet as anything.

We have checked around the outside of our house, the bins but nothing. Looks like I'll be phoning Boots in the morning.

Last year, of the 3 orders I placed with Boots 1 went missing completely whilst in the hands of Yodel, 1 was delivered but had been opened and had items missing and the third I did receive intact.

This year I was concerned about my orders from boots but they were delivered by DPD and Hermes and apart from a couple of damaged items were delivered on time.

And it's not over - the cust service operative said Yodel had stated they HAD delivered the parcel on the 31st!! Horrible!!

I have checked with my neighours, looked over my fence, done everything I should not need to! And on top, it seems whilst Sports Direct have niggled me, Yodel seem to take no responsibility over this.
    Hi Saint,
I too have had problems with Yodel and lies about delivery but the key thing is it is up to THEM to prove they deliverered the item. If THEY haven't got your signature, the item has NOT been delivered. Simple as that. The onus is on them, not you. Put that to the supplier and you should get a result.
    Bye for now,
    Paul

    I have 2 stories...

First was about a year ago. I ordered a new mobile phone and opted for AM next day delivery and arranged to have the morning off. At midday there was no sign of my package and all the tracking said was 'out for delivery'. After half an hour trying to get in contact with Yodel I had to go to work. When I got home tracking had changed to 'unable to locate address' which was odd given they have managed to deliver to my town centre house before, the street is well signposted and the house well numbered.

So back on the phone to Yodel and when I finally got to speak to someone they refused to attempt to find my house a second time and we ended up in a, "we can't deliver but you could collect from the depot / you need to take the failed delivery card with you / I don't have a card" loop and the Yodel person was unhelpful and couldn't seem to grasp the issue.

I then got on the phone to the supplier who went off and had a long talk with yodel and after about 20 minutes came back and told me that Yodel have posted me a card so I can collect my package from the depo. 3 days later the card turned up (as they had posted it 2nd class). Once I got the card I then had to arrange another half day holiday, which I couldn't do for another 3 days, so that I could make the 2 hour round trip to the depot. When I got to the depot it took them over an hour to find my package as it first of all had been 'misfiled' then 'loaded onto a truck for return to sender' despite both the sender and myself requesting that they not do so. I wasn't impressed.

Second story. I ordered a bunch of presents through Amazon with next day delivery at the start of December and due to the number and size of items it was split into four packages. I checked the tracking and all 4 were scanned onto the van at the same time. When the driver showed up he only had three packages, and insisted that was all he had for me and left. After ages trying to speak to someone again I was told that it 'may have been loaded onto a different van' which I find highly unlikely. As of today the tracking still shows 'out for delivery' on the 5th December. Fortunately Amazon did refund the order before Christmas and I bought the items (at a higher price) from a physical shop.

In contrast CityLink not only manage to find my home every time, they give estimated delivery slots which are pretty much spot on all the time. So if the slot is mid afternoon I can without too much worry pop out to the local shop to buy milk etc. Their automated Text notifications keep me informed throughout the delivery and allow me to rearrange delivery easily if I can't be in during the estimated slot.

However I wish more companies used Royal Mail and ParcelForce as if I'm not in when they deliver I can take a short walk and collect the items from the LOCAL delivery office / post office same/next day and don't have to arrange time off work to just sit around the house.

Had only 1 or 2 problems with yodel/herms in the past, i can say UPS was disgraceful, opened the parcel from the bottom and taped up, took most of the contents out. I'd ordered a week before christmas, paid extra for next dalivery, 4 days later and in that state.
I have received a refund of delivery when i rang up but they said i've signed for it, therefore my loss. I had taken photos and sent them to the place i'd ordered from, they are launching *investigation* and have actioned a refund for what was missing as of yesterday so i haven't got the money yet.

whatever carrier whsmith has is a disgrace as well as smiths customer services who dont get back to you.

I don't think I received any packages from Yodel or at least none to complain about this year. Hermes were the most irritating as when no-one answered the door they just left the package on the doorstep (which is easily visible and accessible from the busy street the house is on) and put a note through the door marking the item as having been left in a secure location which it blatantly wasn't.

Citylink weren't great either a couple of times where a next day delivery item showed as being delivered to the courier then did nothing for a week or so and then suddenly turned up without warning. It wasn't too much of an issue as the packages arrived in time although it was a concern with one of them as there was no more stock of it if it didn't turn up.

All the Royal Mail parcels turned up fine and when they left the items too big for the letterbox, they chose a sensible location round the side of the house.

    John
