MSE News: Shoppers vent fury at Yodel as Christmas deliveries arrive late

Yodel were the ones who delivered my dehumidifier - left it outside in clear view of any passing opportunists (I live on a main road), and to make matters worse, plonked it on its side when the box clearly states "keep upright at all times". Dehumidifier didn't work, I still think its because it was left on its side for nearly 9 hours whilst I was at work. (and no, I didn't get a delivery time or day; I was given a two day window, and if I had I would have needed to have changed it as I can't take a day off work unless I'm sick)
In the end, I stayed in an entire day to wait for the booked returns, they turned up the following day swearing blind that was what I had booked.
Utterly incompetent.
I can't fault them enough.
In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work0 -
i worked for yodel for a short spell. it was shocking to see how some of the parcels used to get booted round the depot with no regard for the contents. Yodel always take on too much work and because they treat their workers so badly, theres often people not turning up for work which just puts even more pressure on the drivers that are there. If the driver has parcels left at the end of the day that he hasnt had time to deliver then he could lose his pay bonus, so what they do with any left over parcels is say that they couldnt get access, or that they tried and nobody was in, anything other than the "ran out of time" truth
Puddings, I'm looking into the issue for a sunday paper, any way we could speak about this? PM me maybe?0 -
Surpised CityLink did so well in this report. My experience with them suggests otherwise. A laptop charger was reported as been delivered, when I knew it wasn't. Contacted the seller, who emailed me proof of delivery, and it showed that CityLink had FORGED my signature and claimed delivery. Luckily the seller re-sent a replacement next day by Royal Mail. A few months later a neighbour found a box addressed to me found by the roadside near his property. CityLink again. I could also tell you about the time CityLink got my address wrong and delivered an item to an address, right number, wrong road. Only this time, it was a laptop, and kudos the the lady who signed for it, she brought it round to our place.
If anything, I've never had a problem with Royal Mail, Yodel or Hermes, however the latter sometimes runs out of time and always attempts redelivery next day, understandable given we live in a very rural part of Wales.0 -
Last Christmas I ordered a large digital photo frame as a present from Amazon and it was delivered by Yodel - well, not delivered by Yodel. I stayed home for 3 days waiting for delivery and each day they claimed someone had tried to deliver, but they definitely did not.
I eventually managed to get to the depot to pick up my parcel and it took an hour for someone there to find it. While I was waiting I saw Yodel staff throwing parcels around (some of which looked breakable!) and they didn't seem to care when I filmed them for a while ... youtube.com/ watch?v=PIC91yPMJtA (sorry can't post the link as a new user)
When they did eventually find my parcel it had been opened, but luckily wasn't damaged or bits missing. I'm always reluctant now to use Amazon while they still use Yodel.0 -
I've given up using Book People, since HDNL became Yodel deliveries have become very unreliable wih neither Book People nor Yodel interested in sorting out the problems. I had problems with 2 out of the last 3 deliveries, I suspect I only received the third as it came by Royal Mail.0

Our Yodel delivery person is now a Lithuanian who actually does a good job, whereas the person before them would only deliver small items that could be put through a letterbox. Anything bigger would just be marked as "attempted delivery -no one home" even when we could prove they had never attempted delivery.
It really does depend who your local driver is and whether they consider the pittance they get actually worth it.
Mind you, we did have a delivery recently in a bubble envelope where you could see the impact mark of something very heavy that had squashed it. That shows a general lack of care.0 -
I'm waiting again today for the remaining 4 packages I ordered from Amazon at the start of the week.
1 parcel I was waiting for yesterday eventually arrived- after the person it was incorrectly left for was kind enough to drive it to me (I live in Central London). The driver had left it on another road that began with the same letter as mine. Even more farcical, the person it was incorrectly delivered to wasn't there and he had to collect it from his neighbour first.
The 4 remaining packages should have been delivered yesterday. They had no tracking information available until last night. They show as out for delivery today but I'm doubtful.
Even better, I mentioned this when my brother and his girlfriend were over last night- I mentioned I'd been waiting for parcels from Amazon and she said "wait, let me guess which delivery company- yodel?".
I'm pretty annoyed now that I've paid for guaranteed delivery and wasting 2 days sat inside.
Tracking it on their website says "sorry, but it appears your parcel has been delayed"... it doesn't 'appear' delayed, it is delayed. *sigh*0 -
Yodel are just getting worse, I purchased items for my business and gave various delivery addresses of the locations I was going to use these items.
All were purchased with next working day delivery, 4 packages being delivered by Yodel and 1 by Parcelforce. The only one to arrive on time and without damage was the one delivered by Parcelforce.
Online tracking with Yodel is a Joke, as on one package it said delivered / pad failure(ie they could not get a sig). Total rubbish parcel was never delivered.
Other package said unable to contact / no answer - this was total rubbish as the address was a business with 25 staff on site at the time plus the back up of security cameras.
Another said address not valid - again rubbish as they had delivered there before.
4th package just vanished into thin air.
Tried contacting yodel by phone and managed to get through but replies were a total joke. Also tried online chat, and although replies were prommissing nothing changed.
I contacted my supplier from whom I purchased the items and they resent them by Parcelforce at my request and they all arrived at the correct addresses next day.
All the Yodel deliveries did eventualy arrive but about 12 days late and with damage and tracking never changed from initial comments.Thoughts:
The surest sign that there is intelligent life in the universe is that they haven't contacted us yet:DLife's most urgent question is: what are you doing for others?Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others;) - Martin Luther King jr0 -
