MSE News: Shoppers vent fury at Yodel as Christmas deliveries arrive late

there is a white transit van that delivers thousands of parcels(no exaggeration) to a lock up at the end of my road every morning. The driver has a Yodel coat on. This has happened every day consistently from November and the majority of the parcels are from amazon. I know this because they were left outside in the rain one day Throughout the course of the day car after car will turn up, pack their boot full of parcels and disappear. I won't be ordering anything delivered by Yodel anytime soon as i've seen how they treat packages. I'd be surprised if anyone in Nottingham got anything delivered by them that wasn't damaged. It's disgraceful.
That explains it then as he is in Nottingham.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210 -
In the area I am, we have a fantastic Yodel delivery driver who works his socks off. He leaves in a dry safe place, with a card, if allowed, when I'm out, if not he redelivers. He only started doing that after I said it was ok, along with RM and Hermes.
Hermes this year were the worst for me, but I didn't have my regular driver. All my parcels turned up stinking of 40 stale fags, I phoned Next and John Lewis about it, and was refunded for them.
Have my regular Herpes driver back now, but here in soggy Devon, Yodel driver is fab too. Agree DPD service is excellent and others should follow for convenience.0 -
I didn't realise Yodel had such a bad reputation. I've ordered from Carphone Warehouse who use Yodel twice.
I was expecting the delivery on the Friday which suited me, but I got a text on the Thursday while I was at work saying the parcel would be delivered by 9pm that evening. I was left a number to call but couldn't get through so I had to ring my 13 year old and ask him to listen out for the delivery as they insist on a signature, luckily he was able to be there, but my only complaint if anything was that they were being too efficient!
The second time I ordered was the week before Christmas and I was able to specify Christmas eve delivery, and I must admit I was a little worried it wouldn't arrive on the day but it did, so I was very happy about that :j
Maybe they have a better contract with Carphone Warehouse?0 -

and you think any other courier firm treats parcels any different? even good old royal mail aren't any better.
But on the subject of Yodel, I or anyone I know has ever had a problem with them, nor hermes etc that get a lot of bad press..
I cant help but feel theres a lot of made up stories, or 'embellished' stories where these delivery firms are concerned..0 -
My Yodel driver is ok but does insist on dumping parcels on my doorstep and not knocking. He knows when I'm in and always comes after the school run on an afternoon although he does dump and run. City Link uses a driver who looks like she got lucky the night before and didn't have time to go home and get changed - tarty dress, smudged make up and sky high hair. She always makes me laugh. Hermes recently said they posted a parcel through my letter box which couldn't feasibly have fit. It turned out they opened a porch of someone up the road and threw my parcel in. Luckily the fella brought it round otherwise I'd be billed for something that was marked as delivered.
The best delivery firm and one I prefer is DPD. They give an hour slot which can be changed and turn up on time. I'd rather buy from someone using DPD and pay extra because then I know I'd get my package.
I had dpd over christmas claim to of attempt to deliver to me and card left, only issue was other half was in.
People may not know this, but the couriers handhelds have trackers/gps in them so they know where you are and have been. If amazon and like paid for signatures rather than the cheap leave safe options it wouldnt happen.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Another one who now won't use amazon as they use yodel , shown as delivered with signature , no sign and then after complaint to amazon they suddenly "appear" down the side of my house although someone thereEx forum ambassador

Paid for morning delivery from Very. Tracked it online which continued to show it had been loaded onto van in morning. Phoned Very twice who gave me Yodel's number. Couldn't get an answer as I didn't have the card left by their driver. How could I when the driver hadn't been!!!! Still waiting and checking tracking online until around 7pm. No change to tracking which still showed it was loaded onto the van. Next morning tracking had been updated to say they'd tried to deliver twice but hadn't been able to gain access to my property. I'll never use them again or any firm which uses them.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0

Whatever the delivery cost I'd happily pay twice it to not use Yodel.
Awful company, rude customer service (if you can get through), parcels are never delivered on time.
My most recent experience of yodel featured them trying to deliver the same item 3 times, they later admitted it was never even put on the delivery vehicle and just sat at the depot.
I've had items put in my bin with rubbish in there etc.. What a dreadful company that never improve despite their websites claims.
Oh I forgot to add a neighbour once singed for something yet Yodel said I signed for it even though I was about 30 miles away?0
