I have had various issues with Yodel throughout this year, but thankfully none that affected christmas presents. Like many others here I saw their online tracker showing cards had been left or that no-one was in, when in fact I had been home sick all week and no-delivery vans had been near the place. After 5 false delivery attempts, O2 agreed to cancel my order and send out a new package which arrived by a different courier within 12 hours...

Had multiple issues of a similar nature this year - on the rare occasion they do leave a card my heart sinks because I know it will be at least a week before.I actually get the delivery.

Big companies PLEASE STOP USING YODEL!

Probably delivered without getting a signature. Will still get you a book of stamps :)

Exactly. You always get a signature with Yodel. (or at least know why not)

Oh well, cheapest way to buy stamps.
6 First Class stamps for just £1.45 :money:

Only trouble is I'll now need to go and get a proof of postage on the freepost letter of complaint to Royal Mail in case they do their favourite trick and claim to have not received my letter of complaint - then I claim on the proof of postage. ;)

I ordered an item from Sports Direct on the 18th of Dec - paid for next day delivery as, being a PE teacher, I had some end of term gifts bought cheap to hand out for hard work from the children in our extended schools clubs.

Low and behold Yodel were the named courier. Now having never had a problem in my area of London with them or other couriers as such, I made the order in good faith

When there was still no sign by the 20th, I logged in to "my account" section, where to my horror it stated on the tracking link to the Yodel site that the item had been delivered!!

This of course was not the case, and I spent the next day looking for a contact number for Yodel. Nothing. The next day, the tracking page said it had been returned by the courier to the depot!!...

Sports Direct should have emailed you on dispatch with the tracking number. Only that is the confirmation of order.

You can get to see all the tracking history on the Yodel site. Once it's on there, I don't think it can be modified, only added to.

A quick google for "Yodel contact" gave this as the top output

Forgive me if we dont believe you! First post and all!

As long as you take the same approach with all posters, both positive and negative, then that's fair enough.
  • I once ordered from a website (not amazon) who used Yodel, goods never turned up and they never stuck to their promises of redelivering. In the end I had to take a day off work to go to a depot in the middle of nowhere, truly awful experience. I've always had royal mail deliver my amazon/ebay orders and thankfully never had any problems.

I think we should know who the courier will be before paying though based on some of the stories here.

God forbid what the service will be like with the Royal Mail once its fully privatised and a race to the bottom begins, hopefully the lockers/boxes amazon/tesco etc are looking into will be a solution.

  • As an online retailer I've used most delivery companies over the years.

Yodel was definitely the worst, but also the cheapest.

With so many money savers and comparison tools out there cheapest trumps service level.

Is there a sister site called CustomerServiceExpert ?
  • If it's yodel that will be delivering my item, I cancel and get it from a shop instead even if it costs a bit more simply because in the past when yodel delivered anything to me it was either damaged in some way, left in a stupid place like next doors bin or just left in the rain on my doorstep in an area know for being a high crime area.
    No thanks!

  • there is a white transit van that delivers thousands of parcels(no exaggeration) to a lock up at the end of my road every morning. The driver has a Yodel coat on. This has happened every day consistently from November and the majority of the parcels are from amazon. I know this because they were left outside in the rain one day Throughout the course of the day car after car will turn up, pack their boot full of parcels and disappear. I won't be ordering anything delivered by Yodel anytime soon as i've seen how they treat packages. I'd be surprised if anyone in Nottingham got anything delivered by them that wasn't damaged. It's disgraceful.

My Yodel driver is ok but does insist on dumping parcels on my doorstep and not knocking. He knows when I'm in and always comes after the school run on an afternoon although he does dump and run. City Link uses a driver who looks like she got lucky the night before and didn't have time to go home and get changed - tarty dress, smudged make up and sky high hair. She always makes me laugh. Hermes recently said they posted a parcel through my letter box which couldn't feasibly have fit. It turned out they opened a porch of someone up the road and threw my parcel in. Luckily the fella brought it round otherwise I'd be billed for something that was marked as delivered.

The best delivery firm and one I prefer is DPD. They give an hour slot which can be changed and turn up on time. I'd rather buy from someone using DPD and pay extra because then I know I'd get my package.

My son ordered his son's main Christmas present online, unfortunately it hasn't been delivered by yodel even though it was apparently delivered and signed for on one of the days he was sat at home waiting for it. After numerous phone calls to yodel and emails (online company no other contact details) to the company that he ordered it from, he still hasn't received it. He even went to the yodel offices to try find out what happened. It's now been altered to delivered to depot. I will give Yodel their due, at the face to face contact they did say if he could get hold of the firm he bought it from and get another one sent they would send a Currier to pick it up and make sure it was delivered on Xmas Eva. He's now trying to sort something out with the inadequate customer services of the firm he brought it from.
