The car situation I had a small car which needed repairs (£600) and was no good for carting the baby about and my commute to work increased so I had to get a diesel tried a trade in but no offers would clear the amount still owing on the car so I had to fully finance the new diesel the small car is currently up for sale but I've had no takers. The mrs has a old focus diesel which is finance free so it's not really a option. Thanks for all the advice starting to get my head around it all planning on coming clean on Sunday so wish me luck.0 -
Still unsure how to tackle this could anyone help me out with a step by step plan as I don't know where to start!0

I would suggest starting by going through the thread, writing down a list of the suggestions people have given you (e.g. cancelling sky), then deciding with your wife which ones you're going to initiate.
Also contact Stepchange and have a chat with them about freezing your load repayments.
Once you've done that, you can re-do your SOA to see whether you've made enough changes to cover your loan-repayments, and to see how long it will take to clear the debt.

Well I eventually picked up the courage and come clean with my partner and unfortunately she has decided to leave with my daughter (but she said I can see her whenever I want) well to say I'm devastated is an understatement. I know I've made a huge mistake and its not an extortionate amount of debt but its something she can't deal with at the moment. She also said when I've got myself sorted and turned my life around there could be a chance. I'm struggling to write this wright now but I've only got myself to blame I haven't eaten in two days either. I've spoken to step change and they are sending the paperwork out so I've made a start should be hopefully in recovery in the next week or so. I would just like to thank the people who have posted for the good advice so far. Thank you0

Hello Stiffler
I am so sorry to hear about the situation with your partner and hopefully once she has had a chance to think things through things will be better for you both. Every one is different but sometimes it is more the fact that things have been kept from them is what makes them angry rather than the situation as a whole.
By starting with SC you have made that important start to get the situation sorted and hopefully you can take other recommendations on board to improve you situation both for you and your families sake. At the moment I appreciate everything looks pretty dire but there is hope and support out there for you and having got to the moment where you realise something needs to be done, things will start to improve.
Good luck and I really do hope this is just a temporary setback in your relationship.0 -
She's angry at the moment and it's all a shock. The best thing you can do is throw yourself into dealing with the debt as quickly as possible. It'll get rid of the underlying problem as well as showing your partner that you're serious about dealing with it.
Hopefully this is just a blip that you can both work through.Mortgage when started: £330,995

I hope so I've made the start anyway just awaiting paperwork from SC will be filled in and sent back the same day. I'm off to the doctors @10 as I've not slept not eaten since Monday morning.0

Good luck at the docs. Remember no money problem is unsortable, and StepChange are great to work with.
Lots of positive wishes to you!
