I have just read this whole thread and I for one am glad that Martin shared his knowledge about unfair unlawful bank charges with us and have successfully claimed back MY money. I have no problem with telling everyone I know about it and helping as many friends as I know to get their money back aswel. And because of being able to reclaim I am now nearly free of debt. Good luck to everyone about to or already claiming back. I have nothing but respect for Martin and without this site and peoples help and advice on it alot of peoples lifes would be very much worse off. So Thankyou Martin and Im glad that the profit you get is a big smile because when I read some of the peoples stories about how much they have changed their lives because of this site then you deserve a smile and a big pat on the back.:A

"Hard earned money eh? My husband is in the army and was fighting in afghanistan"
do i need to justify how my money was earned ,not that its any of your business but im in the airforce although just about to leave, do you think i havnt been away from my family in foreign OOA's , do you think i havnt suffered with the poor wages and poor housing to begin with.
As soon as i had a family i made sure we would not get into debt and ive maintained that.

One other comment, this whole reclaiming bank charges on these boards was instigated by Dave Smith, who was featured on Friday's Tonight programme. He posts regularly on these boards a D_Church24 and it his him that we have to thank for bringing this to our (and ultimately Martin's) attention.
Big up for Dave.:T
Hi,
Just found this site recently & already found it helpful!
I claimed back £1400 last year from HSBC, for charges that were made over a 14 month period. I didn't realise you could go back 6 years.
Having counted all other charges up, it comes to an extra £3300. I do not have the letter sent when we received the first refund - but I have read a few comments on here about HSBC asking customers to sign a letter saying they will make no further claims.
Does anyone know how I stand with this? Would it allow HSBC to legally refuse to refund the £3300?

Where is the common sense in charging £35 for not paying an item of say £5.00?
More often than not, those on the 'bread line' have charges racked up into hundreds of pounds when the transactions have been for amounts considerably less than the charge imposed.
When there is blatant abuse of an account, there really ought to be a method of differentiating between hardship and stupidity.
The Co-operative Bank (an oxymoron) have before now confirmed to me that they are more interested in levying charges than they are in providing customer service.
When hardship hits, and not stupidity (i.e. trademarks behaviour of buying unaffordable luxuries) not all of us have friends or family to turn to.
Anyone in that position certainly has my sympathy and total support in getting back from the banks these charges that have been taken out of pure greed.
And don't forget to get interest at 8% per annum. They do pay, and why? Because they know they are in the wrong.

"Can l ask you WHAT THE HELL YOU COME ON HERE FOR?"
"That was aimed at them who cme on calling us for reclaiming what we had robbbed of us!"
I think it may of been an attack on those of us who support the banks,
though i have no way of knowing.0 -

Yeah but so will D Church and all the people who are crowing at the moment that they have got one over on the banks. Again i will reiterate that I have no problem with people claiming back the portion of their bank charges deemed to be unlawful. Just wish they wouldn't suggest that some of us do not pay bank charges because we are rich or more fortunate than them, have no idea what it is like to be poor etc. No it is because we don't spend money we haven't got.
Hope you all get your charges back. I trust the banks will have a system put in place where the permanently solvent customers or those who can keep above a certain credit balance will not have to pay any fees for their accounts.0 -
