Your exams start tomorrow? Ooh good luck Crazy_guy, I'll be thinking of you.
Revision didn't really happen today because I've got a migraine. Which is very annoying because I gave myself yesterday off thinking I'd have all day today. I'm not too worried though, I'm still ahead of schedule and have a week and a half left til exams
Wow. Lcuky u (not bcoz of the migraine, because ur ahead of schedule). Ive got way too much cramming in to do and wish i'd started earlier. Oh well...gotta get back to it now....Win £2008 in 2008 - Member no. 3950 -
It's only because I left myself no time at all for my January exams and was consequently trying to revise for about 16 hours a day by the end (impossible by the way!)so learnt the hard way to give myself time!Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. hey everyone
i've got exams starting on the 9th may (argghh!!) and i am at the panicking stage. i think i can fit everything in on time but i seriously doubt i'll pass with a really good grade.
to help with revision, i've got a revision blog where at the beginning of the post, i write a diary entry (sort of) and after that i have a list of topics i need to revise. i format the topics as:
read some
read through all notes
made some own notes
made all own notes
made some index cards
made all index cards
know quite well
know very well.
I've found that this helps for some reason because you can see step-by step progress of how far you've come + it only takes 3mins to update every day!:heart2:

Hey good idea there! I'm bit too late in the day for that but i had a similar system, well i had the list of topics and then when my notes were written up there would be a red tick next to it so eventually the ticks would mount upYou've got a bit of time till your exams, just try your best thats all you can do, thats what i'm thinking:D

studentphil wrote: »But on an exam that is essay based you only need to game and not learn it all. You really only need to know 5 or 6 topics out of maybe 25 to pass an exam if you have to answer 2 or 3 questions in an exam. If you know 6 of the major topics of the module then you will know enough to pass the exam.
People think so but it doesn't always work. I had one exam in my final year where you had 6 essay questions, split into two sections, A and B. You had to answer at least one question from A and one from B and do 3 overall.
In section A all three questions were on one topic (which had covered only one lecture but the questions were all worded differently and required different answers and integration with other topics slightly) which most people had found particularly difficult. My best mate and I had luckily spent so much time revising this topic and had difficulty deciding which of the three questions not to do but half the people had left that topic out because they were selectively revising and didn't think they need to know all the topics. A lot of people left the 2 hour exam after less than an hour because they had no idea on the one section. The average mark for that exam was rubbish and not surprisingly I got the best mark on the module.
And sali-mali, my PhD is on Alzheimer's disease. Neurodegenerative disorders is a good topic.
Good luck to you all0 -

omg ur scaring me now...im relying on the fact that i dont have to do all the topics...even our teachers have advised us to do only a few. If i had to do all of them, I would have had to start months before.Win £2008 in 2008 - Member no. 3950 -

hey hey hey I make a study planner/diary and then I too tick things off as I do them each day. Odd as it sounds this system is a great motivational tool for me as 1) when I am panicking I can look back at the list of things I have already covered to cheer me up abit and 2) it must be all that subliminal conditioning from school but seeing a tick just makes me feel all happy and so in order to get my ticks I stick to my timetable pretty much exactly. Is this weird? Does this make me one of those children who is no longer naughty not for the sake of being good in itself but for the wee sticker that says Little Angel or something?
how is everyone else getting on?
