I am not ignoring it, I can see that I work completely to maybe how I should and that I am miles from the academic way.

as someone who does marking (which may be on a different scale), regurgitating class notes will get you to pass - but someone who throws in some good quotes or nice references will impress me!

i always found that answering a less popular question worked well too - if you get compared to lots of other people, you're less likely to be one of the best (slightly negative thinking, but it helped me in exams!)

How do you know which quotes to learn though?

Out of the 100s of quotes it does seem tricky to learn the right ones

How do you know which article will help you in exam as you don't know the questions?

well say you pick 20 quotes to learn - you might only find 3 relevant in the exam - just get a broard range. and similarly with articles - if you find things that might be relevant to a couple of topics, then that help too. i don't mark philosophy, but are there any articles from the last couple of years that aren't in text books yet? there will be stuff that everyone knows, so pick something that other won't have thought of........... but this is all AFTER you know the core areas really well.

Crazy_guy, if you think you're learning productively doing this amount then keep it up. It's not for long and I'm sure you'll do amazingly well in your exams with all the preparation you're doing.

Hi thanks for all the comments, i have to say this week i am so pleased with my revision this week. I finished revising for my monday exam today, did a practice question and the knowledge is safely there bubbling away.... and have started with the thursday exam!!

I choose to do the 8 hour stretch as the time really does fly, instead of taking a break every opporturnity where i get distracted...instead i actually do get quite motivated to get past a certain stage in my notes!

So i think as i'm not completely alone doing it in this way i will keep it up as it seems to be working :)

I've always been a terrible reviser and it doesn't do me much harm. I do a couple hours per exam!! I'm averaging a high 2.1..

If I don't learn something the first time I never seem to learn it - I just remember everything from the first time around really..

Hey Crazy_guy, d'you think we could turn this thread into a revision support group seeing as there are so many of us at it? I think it would be good for me if I could have a whinge with like minded people every few hours! :D
