I have exams starting from next week and i've prepared revision notes throughout the year and this week i've been in the library from 8.30am till 5 doing revision while munching on my lunch (i eat quietly unlike some people in my library) and I consider that till my exams are over in 4 weeks this is what i will be having to do between now and then to be okay.
When i finish at the library at 5, i come home have a rest and go over what i learnt between 8-10pm. I couldn't possibly fit much more in, but how much revision do you do round this time, am i a lone soldier in hardcore revision or is everyone like this??

Doing pretty much the same hours here. I think in order to do well it really pays dividends to do the hard, long slog now.... I am literally replying to texts saying "Can't chat now, I'll see you in June"! I have also been taking notes all year though so now I am just expanding my reading and doing past papers under time pressure. I take one night a week off to see my boyfriend, one afternoon off to go to the gym and one afternoon off for my job. I'm in 3rd year now and have learned that this method suits me best and thus far seems to have given me high results.
Good luck everyone, and oh for all the first years who read this... I wasn't always this diligent so don't don't don't worry! The trick is to discover what works for you and stick to that!
xxxI got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down0 -
It said recently in the paper the best way to revise is for 40mins solid then take a 20min break cuz ur brain cant remember more stuff than 40mins solid.0

i don't have exams any more (although i'd resit finals again over writing up a phd!). i found it really helpful to just glance through everything i'd done during the day just before bed - not really reading it, but more checking what it is i should know about. in my second year, revising meant sitting in the library for 20 hours a day, with one hour asleep and 3 doing exams, cramming everything in (my marks for my first exam were ok but they went rapidly downhill as i lost the ability to think with such little sleep!). different things work for different people..... it's the old saying of working smarter not necessarily harder!
time to approach old exam papers and see if all the work is paying off!:happyhear0 -
How are you guys doing your revision notes?
I'm just coming to the end of my first year, so still have a long way to go until finals! It would be interesting to get hints and tips for in the future though.
Nice to see you again crazy_guy. I think a certain fellow poster would do well to read this thread and adopt a similar tactic to his revision :rolleyes:0 -

Hi again
I think revision notes depend on the individual and how they best revise. For me, from GCSE, A level and through uni, i do a set of notes on each topic and they set out the area in basic form, so in law i have the general area, the actual law with the case law names / legislation provisions and then what comes out of those cases / legislation and then any critical analysis that can be drawn from that
In the exams i pick out the relevant bit of the notes and visualise the notes layout and then apply them to the question and elaborate on those notes.
I make these notes generally through the year and they condense a number of books into my one stop revision notes
Making the notes for me is a hell of a lot of work but for me its essential, once you have written the notes you must be able to understand the area, the only thing left is to memorise it!
Hope that helps0 -
This sucks....I dont have time for revision. My first exam is 6th June and I have deadlines:
2 experiment writeups for Mon
1 Asteroids game in C++ for 2 weeks time
1 Website on Digital Media for May 21st (https://www.guni.gameuplink.com/template.html)
1 sql database for Tues
Im not gonna pass on my asteroids game because its far to advanced for me so im going to fail the year. In between all my deadlines I have work every other weekend and I just dont know how to reviseCashback
Total Quidco since 2007: £166.64

don't panic! you have between may 21st and june 5th completely free for revision - and you won't need to revise what you cover in your assignments or coursework very mucb because it will be so recent.
the thing to do with revision is to set out to learn what you're going to be examined on - do you have mulitple choice questions and need to list facts, or is it exams where you need to think about arguements, or will you have set programming problem solving questions? look at previous exam questions over the past few years.
i wouldn't settle for failing just yet - you don't have to write an amzing game - if you have something that will just about do, then that should pass with a low grade. you have decide if it's worth having very little sleep for the next 5 weeks and just working flat out, or if it's better to re-sit the year.:happyhear0 -

Luckily I've finished revising/taking exams etc - until my viva anyway. But when I had exams I had a packed timetable. I started at 8. Had two 15 minute breaks and 30 mins for dinner (ate lunch whilst revising) and then finished at about 11 at night. This was every day for 4 weeks and didn't seem like enough to me. For me the 'your brain can't take in more than 40 mins solid work' isn't the case so I just worked as much as I could and it paid off because I got a first.0 -
Wow! I don't do anything like that much when I revise, which is probably why I get lowish results!
Not revising yet anyway because got 4 essays in for 15th May, aghhh!Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -
When my Bro was at uni he knew a girl who walked round with a stopwatch round her neck, to make sure she did 8 hours revision per day!
If you went to talk to her or she got distracted from revision, she would stop the stopwatch, and then carry on again afterwards!Don't pay off your student loan quicker than you have to.0
