dafodill thanks very much for your comment. however i really dont feel the need to essentially eat out of a bin which contain crap (for lack of a better word)
I have no need to ingest bacteria that will no doubt be breeding in the wheelie bin and would like to avoid any illness associated with that. I do wonder if you are someone who likes to stick your hands into bins and not wash them....
cazzap06...that is harsh. could your neighbour not have been a bit more neighbourly??
thanks time2save. i only called nespresso to warn them about yodel. i honestly didnt expect them to replace the package. when I said i was surprised and they didnt have to do that the guy replied that when people ask for the packages to be placed in reycling bins etc they refuse as they feel that is unhygienic for a consumable product0 -
are you all leaving your bins at the front door .How do the delivery men get access to your bin ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Having once worked for a mail order company, I was always amazed when folk specifically ASKED for parcels to be left in a bin..........! and the amount who requested them NOT to be left anywhere else!0
-
so a bit of an update. i have fired off an email to yodel but get the impression they wont reply.
i have also called nespresso to tell them this has happened. they are arranging for a courier to pick up the parcel tomorrow and are sending out a replacement package immediately...with strict instructions not to put it in the bin!!!
Thats good of nespresso to do that, I'm sure they wouldn't want the bad publicity. i don't get why compamies use yodel and other delivery companies that are slated so much? It doesn't make them look good!
Jsut to note OP if i was left a parcel in my normal bin I would not be happy but if its a paper or recycling bin i think that would be okSaving money like a trouper...0 -
What about when the parcel has been sent as a gift - and you don't even know it was coming? Friends once ordered us a clematis from an online plant company - in a large box labelled "Live plants" and "open immediately" - which was placed in the wheelie bin and not discovered for 36 hours or so....
On the positive side - our recycling is picked up at 0730 so if anything is left the day before by a lazy courier, there's a good chance I'll find it before it goes on the wagon.I need to think of something new here...0 -
We were away on holiday and the Next courier left a parcel in the blue paper box. Next day, did the same thing. You would have thought that seeing yesterday's delivery still in the box, might have prompted the courier to rethink - obviously not.
Came back from holiday to find an empty paper box - our neighbours put out the bins for us when we are away, and vice versa. There were 2 cards with our mail from the courier advising delivery, which the neighbour had put in a pile for us to go through.
I had to sign an indemnity to say I had not received these parcels!0 -
I have had deliveries left in an outside shed, left with neighbours etc and they leave a card. My local postie will post recorded items without a sig as he is my local guy and i know him and we trust eachother. As for leaving in a bin, well it depends if its a clean bin. If it were dirty and lined with waste food and gook then perhaps the bin user needs to clean it occasionally? On the other side,i had a conversation with a Royal mail parcel chap and he assured me that they are told they MUST deliver packages becuase if they take too many back ,they are all but accused of not making an effort and are subject to disciplinary enquiries. No wonder they are frightened to take it back to the sorting office.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I am so glad that we do not have wheelie bins here yet. Still have black bags, recycling bags and boxes. As both of us are now home most of the time, he does not work and I am ill so cannot work, there should be no excuse with any of ours. Rarely get a yodel delivery, tends to be DPD or RM. Now and again it is an independant courier lady.0

i mean you put RUBBISH in the bin which includes anything and everything. soooo unhygienic!!!!
Well yes - but I bag my rubbish - I don't just chuck the contents of the cat litter tray straight into the bin! And I wash the bins out from time to time. I also rinse out the bottles, jars and cans which go in the recycling bin before I put them out - not least because the cat food tins would attract flies were they not rinsed.
I've had parcels left in a bin - but in the recycling bin, in the top tray which is for card/paper so not foul. As long as I have a card (telling me where to look) it's not a problem. Usually though I arrange for parcels to be delivered to work, or I use the 'collect from store' option.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

yes and no
They are expected make an effort, try neighbours etc
leaving stuff in random locations is just asking for trouble
however I know whats its like dealing with RM management so cutting corners is often the path of least resistance
until its goes wrong.......0
