  • Hi All, I posted this somewhere else but think it may have been the wrong place.

We had frozen turkey for Christmas. I boxed up some left over bits on Christmas day and froze it. I took this out Tues night & left to thaw in fridge and forgot about it . So that is 36hrs ish ago. Do you think it would be ok to pop this in a pot to make up some stock & soup or do you think I have missed my window and pushing it?

    Thanks.

Glad to here the op went well Fb....

Been a crazy couple of days here.....finally managed to get our scedules in sinc and met up with three other friends in our closest big town[1:15 hrs away] to go and see a film on mon night...

About an hour before it was due to start one of my friends got a terrible phone call from one of her sisters saying her father was having a heart attack......we managed to race with her to a meeting point so someone could pick her up and take her to him but sadly less than an hour later we got a call saying he had passed away...

Her father was alone at the time as her mother was in France...she managed to get on a flight that same night and was home early morning yesterday....He was only 67 and seemingly as fit as a fiddle.............The funeral was yesterday at 12 noon at the remote settlement where her family live so most of yesterday was spent on the road driving three hours each way. We detoured into Jerusalem on the way home to visit m.i.l and came home with food for a couple of days.... sad times and the family are in shock of course........

hugs and spoons to those in need........

    Hi all.

Shalva oh my, such sad news.:( One can only hope the gentleman didn't suffer greatly.

Moorhen your post had me in tears:( - you know me and animals. Furbabies are still family members, after all.

Flutterby hey, just give in gracefully and let your Mum fuss over you.;) Glad it's all done now; suggest you concentrate on recovery.:o

Freedom sorry, I don't have a scooby about turkey, as I'm vegetarian; hopefully someone with turkey expertise will be along shortly.;)

Good start today (NOT) - my right index finger is 'orribly red and swollen with the arthritis, and guess which finger I bashed on the underside of the wall cupboard whilst putting a mug away on the mug rack?? OWWWWW!!!:(

So.... I'm invoking a mantra I learned years ago in the Civil Service; "So What.... Now What"
So what, it's happened, there's nothing will change that fact.
Now what do we do to make the best of the situation.

Finger still bl00dy hurts though! Ooh - but at least I didn't drop the mug!;) (I'd have been very cross if I had, as it's my favourite one, with a pic of a wolf on it).

On a brighter note, I got a cheque for £30 from a survey company in yesterday's mail, so will get Mr LW to take me into town tomorrow (he'll be wfh on early shift) to bank it. We need to get him a haircut, too - he's beginning to look like a Beatle!:rotfl:
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Happy scrimper, do you think it's because we're leaving things in there too long? It tends to finish about 2-3 hours before we get up. I could change the timer to finish later and then take them out fresh. We just get cheap electric 2am-7am and I'm not normally up until 9 at the moment. Lol

    Hi,

FB: glad you've survived. Now survive your Mum's ministrations. Think how much worse it would be if she just didn't care. I know plenty of people who would give their eye teeth for a mum who gave a stuff about how they feel. Lay back and be fussed over.

Beth: Think of the brownie points you are notching up.

Elaine: Macmillan nurses are such special people - do hope you make it, can't think why you think you might not.
It's difficult living with a hoarder, tell me about it. The Rev tends to be like that though I think I'm getting through to her a bit. There's usually a reason why people hoard. Often it's a past sense of insecurity or deprivation. With the Rev I know that as a child she was rejected by her parents and throughout her life has lost everything she's had several times and had to build her life all over again. So I give her some slack and we're slowly making a bit of progress.

I'm getting over my cold and cough and just love the yelling bull cough medicine - it's a miracle. I took some of the night-time one las night and slept for 7 hours. Unheard of for me, with or without a cough.
Still not eating much - YAY!
Passed the vacuum lightly over my bedroom floor this morning and called it a day for HW. The Rev Found a burger in the freezer and did that with some stir-fried veg. Thankfully she is quite happy to forage for food if I'm not around.

Trying to catch up on letters to those people who fell off my Christmas card list. Also my very good friend's birthday this weekend. We were at school and college together in the 50s and have never lost touch. One of those friendships where if we don't see each other for several years, when we meet it's as if we've never been apart. It's quite true, you can't make old friends. Anyway, she deserves a nice long chatty letter too.

    Better get on with it.
