Good morning , I hope you are all well.
I havent posted all over xmas but have read the thread a few times. I note there has been some really sad situations and I send massive hugs to those affected, especially Jools and Uncle Bryn. Big hugs to anyone else needing one.
For me its been a mixed xmas and new year break. Struggling financially and emotionally. Today I have woke early with intentions of getting some housework done and then later taking the younger children to see a film at the cinema. We are very fortunate in that my elder son works at the cinema and we can see films for free, from time to time.
Good news for me, is that I got offered a conditional place at Birmingham City Uni for Adult nursing.:j This is as long as I complete my Access course and get a certain amount of distinctions or merits. If I work hard, I CAN do it.
Have spent most of my life not thinking I was good enough and this is my chance to succeed, God willing. My ultimate goal is to be a Macmillan nurse. Not sure how realistic this is but I will at least try.
Right, rest of the day is housework, kids, then leisure.I live with a compulsive hoarder who freaks out when i try to get rid of stuff so my mission for this year is to do something about that situation.I am by no means the tidiest person, but his hoarding has got out of control. Some of it, he wouldnt miss if he didnt see it going out but it does cause friction when discussed. He is on a course as from next week, so I might be sneaking a few unused (2 years at least) items to the charity shop or recycling tip. It will definitely be a little and often though.
Hope you all have a happy, warm and safe day. xx
Good luck as regards your course. My DD is also on an Access Course and they are jolly hard work in themselves so I am sure you will achieve your dream xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone,
Elaine well done on being accepted on the course, if you are determined you can achieve anything.
Jools Hugs.
Molly and LW Hope that the BD is staying away.
Managed quite a lot of cleaning and decluttering yesterday and the house is looking a lot better. All the decorations are down apart from the tree, that can stay till saturday.
We had pork chops for tea yesterday, I love pork chops but my daughters and sons friends seem never to have them, they always ask what they are!
Had some really sad news yesterday, a friend's dog drowned in floodwaters over Christmas, she is devastated, it was such a gorgeous dog and will be missed by everyone.
I also heard that a girl in DS's year at school, the daughter of a friend of mine, is recovering well after spending Christmas and New Year in hospital with a life threatening virus. It makes you really count your blessings.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Bright with light cloud but still damp underfoot here this morning.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
DS2 up, dressed and had brekkie, DS1 still snoring his head off in his pit! Will be going to wake him shortly as we need to collect his bike from mum's - he will ride it back.
Work was busy as expected - but now off until the 14 Jan - have loads to get done though, but will be nice to be less stressed!
My landline and internet connections still not sorted, so when I go to mum's will borrow their phone and give them a blasting - the phone line has been unusable since Xmas Eve and internet on and off continously - the fault reporting service has done an line test and it quite clearly advises that the problem is their end with their equipment. They will be compensating me - we've had this same problem a few years back and they promised that it would be permanently rectified as it was being caused by old equipment and would be modernised and the problem would be solved - evidently they've done a bodge job and been lucky enough to get a bit more time out of it and been pocketing my money! Feel sorry for however I get on the phone because now I've had enough! They have all other contact details and not once have I received any contact to advise what the current situation is - I'm really shocked by their appalling customer service - I wouldn't mind but they are the most expensive provider on the market and I use them because generally the service is very good - I'm really unhappy about this especially as we'd been told the problem would be rectified as obviously it hasn't!
Dinner last night was pasta with creme fraiche sauce, smoked sausages, and mushrooms - delish one of my favourites. Tonight I'm not sure but have plenty still in the cupboards and fridge and freezer - so we won't starve!
Must crack on - need to get on and not waste the day - want to try to get on top of the washing, drying and ironing today if possible.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at work after eating cooked breakfast.
DW emptied & there is nothing to put in the washing machine, though that will change when I strip the bed in a while.
I need to rummage in the freezer for tea & make a decision, probably chicken & Bombay potatoes.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

A tumble dryer is actually brilliant for getting creases out. It wont get out everything, but will get out quite a lot. when i had one in the U.S., We used to put things into it for about 10 minutes to get the creases out of something we wanted to wear. I miss the tumble dryer but our house is too small for one and they do suck up alot of gas/electricity!! i don't miss the bills!Sealed Pot Challenge #1951

Just saw the bit about the christmas tree. If it is cut, it will not survive. But what i did a few years ago is when the tree was done in the house, i left it outside til i had a day or two think about it. I decided to cut some up for firewood (just make sure all pine needles are removed as they smoke something fierce!) and then i took the needles and laid them over my garden bed for the winter. it helped protect it a bit from the elements and then in the spring whacked them into the compost. the firewood left a lovely smell in the house when it burned tooSealed Pot Challenge #1951
