  • I still find it quite sad that so many people are missing out on a great day - i read all these posts before i went and was tempted to cancel as well but as we had booked accommodation we thought we may as well go and decide when we got there.
They are not trying to fool anyone - they take a deposit to secure you place which is refunded to you after you have been. They do send you a receipt and it does tell you to take the receipt with you otherwise you will not get your refund. They are not doing anything anything wrong - most of the complaints on here are because people did not read the information they were sent.
I just wish i could show you all the pictures they took, if anyone is thinking about going and wants to see them then message back on here and i will email some.
Just take a gamble - for the sake of £30 (which you get back anyway) i promise you won't regret it. :j
  • No the place was tacky, they put cheap make up on you, the lady was SOOOOOOOO RUDE just because I didnt want to purchase any photos saying i am wasting her time...how professional(!)

I MEAN HELLLO??? i was supposed to have "won" the competition.

Anyway, they didn't send no receipts, I phoned them up and told them and the woman said "oh that means it must be in the reception somewhere".

I asked if I can bring my bank statement instead as proof and she said I have until Sunday to do it. I will go today and see what they do.

Why would they need a deposit from me? I've paid for my ticket, if I don't go I lose out.
Why don't they refund the deposit on the day?
  • Its really sad to see this reviews ,ive had the coverlook experience it was grand ,ive lost a lot of weight if you cant afford sixty pounds for the services then do not go,i only bought the pictures because i could afford them there was no pressure from the lady who viewed my pictures,i think its really nice wat the company is doing ,keeping alot of people off the streets and in a job,im sure most of us dont mind pple sitting at home on their backs doing nothing except living on tax payers money, but people working for their living and you critise them,if u can work hard sity pounds or thirty pounds u might get back isnt really nothing i loved my day with covergirl it was grand:T :T :T

Either of you happen to work for them, or did you just join up to say how great they were:rolleyes:

Either of you know why I have to pay a deposit when I BOUGHT my tickets or why I don't get my deposit back when I show up?
  • I know all about these places. If you ever get a call from a place called The Studio in Great Portland St, Oxford Circus London - HANG UP!!
They will tell you, you have WON a free photo makeover session for you and a friend. You havent won anything. They have just randomly phoned you or one of your friends gave them your number! They will charge you £60 deposit (supposeidly refundable but NOT) for booking fee and tell you how fantastic it all is, etc..
Like all photo studios you sit in the waiting room for up to 6hrs drinking juice and buck fiz with upto 7 other ppl all waiting to get their hair, nails, makeup and photos done. You only get one hair do which most of the time is just a quick brush or strightening and then make your way to the photo session which is the same sitting as everyone else who is there - one against a brickwall, a few on chairs, standing and some others with wind effects,etc..
As like all studios the sales ppl all work on commission so will pressure you into spending hundreds of pounds you dont have on photos or a cd of them, that you dont need. If you are young (18yrs - 25yrs) they will pressure you the most.
Beware - once you sign that contract for direct debit you are stuck - there is no way out and the debt collector WILL continue to chase you FOREVER adding on extra charges for your non-pmt!
Also all the photos are retouched BEFORE you view them so that you think you look better than you actually are and are even more willing to buy them.
The photos are £75+ each for A4 photo and the CD is over £600.
You wont get back your deposit as it is only refunded if you buy something - they take it off your order, but they will also charge you £5.95 for postage of your FREE photo that you may receive in about 3mths time - if your lucky. Your free photo order is pushed to the back of the que as you did not buy anything.
How do I know all this? I used to work for them! And I know all about these places inside and out.
So if any photo studio phones you and tells you, you have won a free photo session & makeover, just hangup. It is not worth the hassle and unless you have tonnes of money and time to waste, just dont even bother with them.
    Good luck ppl.
  • I was also contacted by the covergirl people,, and although i dont usually get conned into these kinds of things i foolishly gave my card number, believing that it was a GP30 deposit. I cancelled my card that evening as i felt i shouldnt have been so stupid, but checked today and GP60 was missing! does anyone know an address i can write to or any advice on how i can get my money back?
