oh & mysk I thought of that but I've never been a guide so I'm not really sure what she might need! I'm a bit useless really haha! Also I did buy her and her older sister camp blankets for Christmas - from the guides website - this makes me think that the 'branded' element (ie everything being made by the association) might be just as important to her and so she'll not appreciate it. I could on the other hand be just worrying for nothing!
Would she like this?

You said she likes the owls, and you could do this in any colour you like so not too girly?0 -
Scuff, how about trying amigurumi (if you are able to crochet that is!) you could make some cute little animals for her to stand on a bookshelf or windowsill. They are very easy to make and dont take very long!
I'm trying to add some photos, but it doesnt seem to be able to work! any tips anyone?
Here is the link to my flickr though, and they are on there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/91889251@N08/with/8340624815/#photo_8340624815the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Wows, mysk is the winner! I'm gonna have a proper look at that when I get home from work but off my phone that looks pretty good, & I don't imagine too taxing either!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200

Glitterkitty we must have cross posted! I can't look properly at flickr on my phone but if they're what I think they are I love them! But can't crochet yet! Think that'd be quite a sweet idea too
I think I might make the bag nd if I increase my crochet skills in the next 3 weeks I might do one of them as well? Is it doable?! I want some for me haha

They are relatively easy to do - i made those when i had first started to learn to crochet (the grim reaper was the biggest challenge because of all the black yarn!)
You could do a very cute owl just by crocheting an egg shape and adding felt for the face etcthe only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi everyone,
Some lovely ideas on here! I was wondering if you could take me under your crafty wings?!? I have the basics of lots of different crafts card making, crochet, jewellery, sewing machine but have never actual been able to produce anything! I just don't have the know how but would love to be able to make my own gifts for people and really could do with saving money!
I have 2 birthdays in jan, one is my friends boy who will 3 and loves trains and the other is my nan who will be 83 - any ideas for a novice?0 -
Ooooh will read the full thread in a minute but can I jump on board? I want to try & make as many prezzies as possible this year - I've started my list but I find it really hard to come up with ideas for children (don't know why as I have enough of my own lol) hopefully we can all inspire each other

How about a notebook cover for your nan? Grab a piece of fabric thats long enough to go all the way around a book (works best on hardback or ringbound ones), and add around 5cm at each end... hem all of the edges, then turn over the two ends and sew the top and bottom. The notebook should just slip into it.
Not sure about the little boy, I made wooden toys for my cousins children, but I have access to a full workshop as well... some kind of cuddly toy, either knitted, crocheted, or sewn?*2016 - the year of the savings account!*
