Hi all
I've been awol, had a MSE friend to stay Thursday - Monday the other week at the same time as DS2 so I was busy getting things arranged before and afterwards then DS2 came for another day/night later in the week too so I'm rather behind schedule. I tend to meet friends most days and fit things around it, today I was lugging 2 heavy bags around with me and unfortunately timed it with heavy rain and wind to walk home about 9 pm.
I have 2 days socialising over the weekend as 2 friends birthdays and DS1 arriving about midnight Saturday so I plan on wrapping presents tomorrow morning as I'm out early afternoon for the day.
DS2 is arriving on Monday afternoon for 4 days and he's going to my parents for the afternoon so I will be doing last moment food shopping.0 -
Hi again
I have just opened my cards and put them out and sorted the washing, then caught up the this thread. One of my online friends made me a really interesting pop up card - in your imagination picture an old fashioned red candle on a stand, and behind it is a sort of round thing for it to rest against (standing upright behind it) I've seen some that have mirrors in antique shops. On this one the circular thing behind is made using card with a teabag pattern folded middle. And the candle and stand are also made from card.
It looks really good. Hope you could understand my explanation.
Sugarspun, very sorry to hear your news, hugs xxxx
Rufus, that was a very frustrating experience with the doctors. At least your pre-Christmas dinner went well and you also had a very long walk for the Victorian Christmas, must have been very tiring.
Mum2one, glad you got home ok after your countryside detour. Thanks for the new challenge.
I was surprised to see you have a camper van to buy for Miss Hoodie, because didn't that you get lots of CV themed gifts in the past and she didn't want them?
Susan I hope you are happy with the mystery gift.
Those are interesting cut outs Culpepper.
Mrs M, what a fantastic jumper!! Well done.

Hi Angela - After all the fuss last year when Miss Hoodie had the campervan hamper goodies - she now wanted the bag... I give up...
She did the same - earlier in the year Argos had a clearance item, - Billabong handbag, small brown one bit like a hunter bag - reduced from £30 to £7, brought me one, a couple for presents and one for her, she saw mine and it was I hope I haven't got one... ok no prob.. put it with the Christmas stuff, - then she saw it oh thats he bag mums got, its lovely I wish I had one.... When we said u didn't like it, oh that was then.... Hormones... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hope everyone ok and not doing the headless chic impressions, touch wood we have only had 1 Xmas card whose person we haven't got an address for, our old GP moved up to Newcastle and sent us a card bless his heart....
Had a good day, went to a local market, 12 miles away and a wonder round, then been to the cinema 2ngt, and popcorn... doesn't sound MSE but its going to work out that I only have to pay for Miss Hoodies ticket!! We went to see Harry Hill, the film was daft, but brilliant, a great laugh xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Not headless chickening here, although I have lost the mincemeat in the pantry ...
DH is now in intensive care, so we're postponing Christmas. Santa is going to drop a letter and another advent calendar to DD on Christmas morning to say she can have a chocolate every day until her daddy comes home, then scoff all the rest the night before Santa comes - when the box is empty Santa will know it's time to come back and drop off her presents.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hi all. Sugarspun, that is a brilliant idea, I do hope your hubby isn't in too long. As they say, it is only a day. Last year my OH was working nights right through Christmas, 12 hour shifts plus hour each way travel, so we gave up hope of having Christmas day on the day and had it New Year instead. We have had two pre Christmas days already this year with different arms of the family and are having another one the weekend after Christmas. You can still have a lovely time and will be better when you are all together.
I picked up the bits for my Dad yesterday, they were posted to ED's and I kept forgetting to get them off her but we went to the gym yesterday and then a spot of shopping although I didnt need to get anything for myself. I can wrap them today, plus I went through my craft stuff and pulled out the book bags I made as they hadn't sold (only one of them). I am giving one to ED and the rest to the nieces who I was originally making them for so I can wrap them up today as well.
Today supposed to be meeting up with DIL for a coffee but weather is atrocious at the moment. Will see if it eases off by the time we have to meet, otherwise will be giving it a miss.0 -
SugarSpun - thats a brilliant idea, do hope hubby goes on ok, know your across the waters, but if there is anything - just shout.
Hope the mincemeat surfaces...
Had an afternoon of baking with Miss Hoodie think she took some frustration out... unfortunatly a present and cards arrived from the mossing branch of the family - not bad 1st present in 11 years!! to be honest its really upset her, but as we told her, he can't get to her, its only ink on a card, and shes safe.
We've made Cherry Scones, Fruit Scones, Cranberry and White Choc cookies - very festive in snowman and xmas tree shapes. Did a festive delivery to the nice neighbour, and then packed a sample set up for my Uncle.
Then we made packet mix - strawberry and white choc muffins - they were tasty but the icing didn't go well - but we had fun!!
Last batch of presents go tomorrow - then Christmas Eve - relax... worth a try, that be sort dining room, been sorted twice but got filled again!! then make trifles and prep as much as we can, cinema for me and Miss Hoodie and takeaway Pizza in evening, our Christmas tradition xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Ooh sounds lovely Mum2one. I wish we could have cinema on christmas eve. would be fab. I am going out tomorrow shopping although dont need to buy anything, just accompanying ED. Weather is going to be bad too but i expect we will enjoy ourselves. Then busy day christmas eve. Lunch out with the kids, (might just be cake in greggs) then dinner at OH's friends' in the afternoon.0
